The singer and drummed last performed together on October 4, 2015, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, but once again joined forces at a TEDxFargo event last month. <\/p>\n
They weren\u2019t performing this time – instead, they were talking about their creative process, in a chat moderated by Robert Vargas, who said the interview is one fans \u201cwon\u2019t want to miss\u201d, as it will be \u201con YouTube\/TedxFargo platforms in a few weeks for the public to view for all-time\u201d. <\/p>\n
Alex founded Van Halen along with brother Eddie back in the 1970s, with Roth also part of the original line-up. He left the band in 1985 but rejoined in 1996 for a brief stint, before returning for good in 2007. <\/p>\n

Van Halen\u2019s last performance – which also signified a thaw in the long-running feud between Eddie and Roth – took place as the last show in a run of North American dates. <\/p>\n
\nEddie passed away in October 2020 after losing his battle with cancer aged 65. <\/p>\n
\nDavid\u2019s appearance with Alex comes after another Van Halen star – Sammy Hager – invited Roth to join him onstage at his upcoming Las Vegas residency. <\/p>\n
\nHagar is due to kick off the Sammy Hagar: The Best of All Worlds shows at Dolby Live in Sin City in September and he’s extended an open invitation to his Van Halen predecessor Roth after the rest of the rocker’s US tour was cancelled. <\/p>\n
\nIn a video posted on social media, Hagar admitted he was sad to hear about the trek being scrapped and offered Roth the chance to join him in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “Hey Dave, Sammy here. I just got a call from [Van Halen musician] Michael Anthony about your tour getting canceled, and I wanna say from the bottom of my heart, I\u2019m sorry. <\/p>\n
\n“I hope you\u2019re well. I hope there\u2019s not a physical problem. Honestly, Mike and I love the fact that you\u2019ve been out there doing it, supporting the greatest band in the world that we were both part of. And, yeah, I\u2019m really sorry. “That\u2019s f***** up. Supporting what we did in this band to keep this music alive … When you\u2019re ready to carry on, you go, brother. Mike and I support you.” <\/p>\n
\nHagar went on to add: “Come to Vegas for the residency in September. Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, MC the damn show. <\/p>\n
\n“Come out and just do what the f*** you do \u2013 which is pretty damn entertaining! Anyway, hope you\u2019re well. I really do. God bless, brother.”<\/p>\n
