Trisha Paytas<\/strong><\/a> is reacting to online scrutiny over Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s body.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel the internet is getting so comfortable talking about bodies, but specifically women\u2019s bodies<\/a>,\u201d Paytas, 38, said in a Sunday, August 3, TikTok<\/a> video after it was announced that Grande will no longer take part in a West End production of the musical Sunday in the Park With George<\/em><\/a> next year.<\/p>\n

According to Paytas, \u201cFat people or even larger or even like midsize-to-larger people have always been getting the body-shaming<\/a>,\u201d but she said \u201cbody-checking\u201d of people with smaller physiques is becoming \u201cmore intense.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grande\u2019s appearance in her \u201cPetal\u201d music video, released on Friday, July 31, elicited a fresh round of commentary about her body, Paytas noted. \u201cSo many people have talked about her new \u2018Petal\u2019 video where you see her collarbones, her chest bones,\u201d she said. \u201cIs it alarming? Is it shocking? Yes. I don\u2019t know necessarily if we need to be commenting on it as much as we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paytas stressed that she was not specifically \u201ctalking about Ariana in this case\u201d but that commentary about people\u2019s physiques is unhelpful.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, it\u2019s clear, right?\u201d she said of people who appear \u201cextremely thin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear to everyone and the people around them,\u201d the podcaster continued. \u201cIt can be really hard to admit there\u2019s a problem to yourself, to the public, to your fans. I assure you, if that person has a problem, they\u2019re aware.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who were always thin who then get thinner and thinner and thinner \u2026 they\u2019re aware even if they have body dysmorphia. Like, they\u2019re fully aware \u2018cause it\u2019s all their mind thinks about,\u201d Paytas said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere\u2019s no shame in loving your body. Thankfully, more Hollywood stars than ever before are preaching that message, and they won\u2019t let body-shaming comments slide anymore. Lizzo has been vocal about trying to help people accept all body sizes. \u201cI want to normalize my body. And not just be like, \u2018Ooh, look at this cool [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She went on, \u201cI just don\u2019t think [commenting on people\u2019s bodies] helps either way. It doesn\u2019t help them want to get help, it doesn\u2019t help them want to stop the problem. So many times when people say, \u2018Oh, you look sick,\u2019 or \u2018We see your bones\u2019 \u2026 it\u2019s almost like encouraging, enabling that issue, if that makes sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I just think this commenting on bodies just overall needs to stop if they\u2019re not talking about it,\u201d Paytas said. \u201cIf people are not acknowledging weight loss, transformation surgeries, GLP-1s, whatever, then it\u2019s not really up for grabs to comment on, in my opinion. \u2018Cause I just think it helps no one.\u201d<\/p>\n
