The Oscar winner, who remains best known for performances in Black Swan, Closer, Jackie, the Thor films and the Star Wars prequel trilogy, most recently appeared in Fountain of Youth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nShe is also continuing to attract attention following the announcement of her pregnancy earlier this year.<\/p>\n
\nNatalie told Elle about how her pregnancy has heightened her sense of smell: \u201cScent becomes much more present for me when I\u2019m pregnant each time, for better or worse.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was at a restaurant with a friend of mine the other night, and I was like, \u2018There\u2019s gas. There\u2019s a problem\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cMy sense is much more potent and it must be something to warn you about danger, because I am hyperaware of gas and smoke.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNatalie also reflected on the differences between receiving maternity care in France and in the United States.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt\u2019s interesting, actually. In many ways, the same. I find the doctors to be amazing in both places, but they do have different landmarks for pregnancy and some of the tests they recommend are different.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe biggest difference for me is a socialized versus not-socialized approach to medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cWhen you\u2019re in a socialized medicine country, they\u2019re trying to do the best for the most people, without making you pay for extra stuff.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhereas, in the U.S., they\u2019re like, \u2018Well, if you want this, we can add this\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou can see that it is also a business.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLast month, Natalie shared a photograph on Instagram showing her baby bump while standing on an apartment balcony wearing an oversized blue shirt.<\/p>\n
\nShe captioned the image: \u201cCounting the days until we meet you.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThank you @shelbyduncan for your talent.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe post prompted messages of support from several of her friends in the entertainment industry, including Macaulay Culkin, 45, who replied: \u201cGee whiz,\u201d while Jennifer Garner responded with heart emojis.<\/p>\n
\nNatalie first announced her pregnancy during an interview with Harper\u2019s Bazaar in April.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cTanguy and I are very excited.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m just very grateful. I know it\u2019s such a privilege and a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nReflecting on becoming a mother again, Natalie also said the experience had given her a different perspective from her earlier pregnancies.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThere is a gratitude that when you\u2019re young, you don\u2019t necessarily grasp.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd there\u2019s a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it\u2019s probably the last time, I cherish every moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
