During the conversation, JENNIE<\/strong> spoke about her relationship with social media and the other members of BLACKPINK<\/strong>, an icon that she wants to emulate, her future in the entertainment industry, and much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing honest, it was a crazy year for me, the past year. I never had the time to sit down, adapt, and really embrace what Ruby<\/em> did for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the TikToks using her collaboration with Tame Impala on the \u201cDracula\u201d remix:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMan, I love seeing all the videos of people singing along. It\u2019s so fun for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

On spending a year in a self-described bubble while working on Ruby<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI made sure I didn\u2019t step out of that bubble, so I stayed focused.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo have a strange form of second chance to build my own career from now on with the amount of experience and love that I\u2019ve gotten from people is only an advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I\u2019m releasing something, when I have new projects that I\u2019m sharing with my fans, I like to stay online. To see their reactions is sometimes the sweetest thing ever.\u201d But in moments like this spring, where she\u2019s locking in on new music, she all but throws away her phone.<\/p>\n

On checking in more with herself:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m becoming friends with my body. There are definitely things that I\u2019ve been insecure about. I\u2019m a very petite person, and early on, I felt the need to make myself look tall. But I\u2019m learning to love my own body and to see what works on my body the best. I\u2019m more confident with myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the bond she shares with the other members of Blackpink:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up with the girls. We were always together, for the hard times and the good times. We took care of each other, and we gave advice to each other. I never felt lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

On being stronger and more self-assured than she was a decade ago:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn my head, I\u2019m still such a free and young spirit that\u2019s on a journey to find herself. The past 10 years have taught me how to communicate, how to embrace things I\u2019m not comfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n

On relying on her \u201csurvival instinct\u201d to get where she is now:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so proud of myself for designing that life from an early age.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRihanna<\/strong><\/a> will always be my biggest dream in terms of how much influence she has over pop culture and also music culture and art itself. She\u2019s so inspiring for me. To find that for myself would be a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

On being open to more acting roles:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m bilingual, and to act in my second language does teach you a lot of things. If anyone is looking for this, I\u2019m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

On creating something that feels true if not quite flawless:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m more in control of who\u2019s in the studio and who I\u2019m working with, but I\u2019m definitely not in a space where I want to make everything perfect. If anything, I\u2019m heading the other way, where I might sound horrible and may not be perfect, but I\u2019m just trying to enjoy and be less serious and be me. I\u2019m not a \u2018let\u2019s be perfect\u2019 person right now. I\u2019m trying to stay on a good vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m leaving a little blank space in my head to see if there\u2019s anything else I want to reach for. It\u2019s very special, the unknowingness. It gives me space to just think. I\u2019m seeing it as a great opportunity. But for now, I\u2019m spending every minute and second in<\/em> it.\u201d<\/p>\n

On how she feels looking back on the summer full of major performances:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great summer. I feel like I\u2019m still here. I\u2019m just having fun and more exploring of myself and my music. So, it\u2019s been really fun and see all the fans around the world, always a pleasure.\u201d<\/p>\n

On what percentage she\u2019s made up of out of rapping, singing, acting and dancing:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA good 25 of each. I want to be able to face all four of them in the same energy, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

On what skill she\u2019d like to add into the mix:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be a professional bartender\u2026.I feel like I\u2019ve read stuff on the internet too much, where I believe that I\u2019m capable of making cocktails, which I\u2019m not. But a nice martini. I\u2019ll start there.\u201d<\/p>\n

On when her Capricorn side comes out:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI should know this because I recently talked to my friends about astrology, which I\u2019m not so familiar with. They said that I\u2019m a workaholic, and that\u2019s the Capricorn side of me, so I\u2019m trying to embrace that. I\u2019m learning about astrology these days.\u201d<\/p>\n

On what kind of partier she is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI love to dance at a party. I don\u2019t go out too often, but when I do, I love to just jump around to music and dance, I love a good dance party.\u201d<\/p>\n

On what It was like seeing \u201cDracula\u201d blow up:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt made me unexpectedly super happy. I think I woke up every day getting these new reactions from fans, so I was just so happy that the song did well because it happened so naturally with Kevin [Parker]. And also, the fact that I still haven\u2019t gotten in a space with him to shoot\u2026.We did it over Zoom and video calls because he was in Australia and I was in Korea, but it worked out perfectly!\u201d<\/p>\n

On meeting Tame Impala\u2019s Kevin Parker:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe came to Korea and we had mutual friends, so we ended up hanging out in Korea\u2026.I\u2019ve always been a fan of his music, so we talked about working together, but it happened with \u2018Dracula,\u2019 so I\u2019m just really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Doechii and what drew her to wanting to collaborate with her:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI love Doechii. She\u2019s just like a walking inspiration for me. Anything that she does is so creative, and I can already tell that she puts so much time and her vision in it, that she\u2019s just an inspiring creature for me\u2026.I think it\u2019s just her energy; I was immediately drawn to all her videos and all her music from the beginning. So, I just knew deep down, like, I wanted to collaborate with her. But with the song \u2018ExtraL,\u2019 that\u2019s what I was searching for: a strong, feminine energy that I could have fun with. Who else better than Doechii?\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she gave Lily-Rose Depp any tips for her role in becoming a pop star in The Idol:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what though? It was the other way around. Because it was also my first acting experience, and I got to do it with Lily, and she ended up giving me the most sweetest advice, just on anything. And still up to this day, she\u2019s still making sure that I\u2019m good. I was very grateful to have her by my side.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she still remembers the dance from The Idol<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe one that I picked up probably in, like, three hours? I don\u2019t think it\u2019s in my body, but I can probably do it again in three hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the quickest she\u2019s had to learn choreography:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes the day of. Like, at the shoot, we just make stuff up on the spot. We did that a lot for Blackpinnk, honestly\u2026.30 minutes. But it wasn\u2019t for the whole song, but for a good minute [of a song].\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she regrets any of her past performances:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cNever. I never want to regret anything that I did. I want to be proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her favorite person to see at a Chanel show:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I love everyone. I love my Chanel family. When I see Lily at Chanel anytime, it\u2019s like a ray of sunshine to me. Like, she makes me feel at home. And everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the piece Gracie Abrams wrote about her:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know she was writing this piece about me, so when I saw it, I was in literal tears, and I was actually screaming a little bit too. It was just the sweetest thing that anyone could\u2019ve done, and Gracie\u2019s such a sweetheart. And the same way Lily. Lily and Gracie and I honestly have a great time at Chanel shows together, really. I\u2019m so glad to have the girls with me there. I\u2019m such a big fan of her music and her as an artist. So to be able to share this generation together, so closely, I think I\u2019m just very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whose concert she\u2019s screaming at front row:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am at Rosal\u00eda\u2019s concert screaming, front row. I can\u2019t wait to go watch her Lux<\/em> Tour, seems amazing. Do you know her song \u2018La Perla\u2019? I picked up Spanish! It\u2019s my goal to, like, sing the whole thing without looking at the lyrics.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether someone trying to impress her needs to impress her dog, Kuma, first:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI would love for them to win my heart, but if they win Kuma\u2019s heart, that\u2019s a faster way for you because he only loves me\u2026.I trust his instinct better than mine. I think dogs have special talents to read people\u2019s energy though.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she brings Kuma on tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I don\u2019t\u2026.He\u2019s turned 11 now, so I just don\u2019t want to fly him to places and put more pressure on him. He\u2019s got a good, happy life at home, so it\u2019s okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the longest she\u2019s lasted in a cold plunge<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u201cA little less than five minute. Like, four minutes. It\u2019s a long time. If you cold plunge, you must know, but it\u2019s a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

On if she would break up with someone if they couldn\u2019t do a cold plunge:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI think eventually I could convince them enough to cold plunge with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she would double text:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even first text. So for me to double text, that\u2019s a big gesture\u2026.If you\u2019re not replying back to me for your own reason, respect. I respect your time.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her advice for dealing with jealousy:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to love yourself. You\u2019ve really got to love yourself and prioritize you\u2026.I think trust is such an important foundation of a relationship that you should learn to trust the other and also learn to gain your trust from the other. So once that\u2019s settled, the rest is so easy. So, you\u2019ve got to prioritize the way you see someone, I think. It\u2019s more than chasing. Like, you really gotta earn the trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her favorite lyric from one of her songs:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s \u2018Shut up Jennie<\/strong>, just get in the car.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether she prefers capybaras or hamsters:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCapybaras! They are the most calming, zen, peaceful animal in the world. I always try to learn from capybaras. The zen-ness of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
