It\u2019s officially 2010 again<\/a> for Swifties as Taylor Swift<\/strong> <\/a>dropped Speak Now (Taylor\u2019s Version)<\/em> <\/a>on Friday, July 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s here. It\u2019s yours, it\u2019s mine, it\u2019s ours. It\u2019s an album I wrote alone about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20,\u201d the now-33-year-old Grammy winner wrote via Instagram upon the album\u2019s release \u201cI remember making tracklist after tracklist, obsessing over the right way to tell the story. I had to be ruthless with my choices, and I left behind some songs I am still unfailingly proud of now. Therefore, you have 6 From The Vault tracks! I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing up, now) and the memories it brought back filled me with nostalgia and appreciation.\u201d<\/p>\n

In honor of the rerelease \u2014 which comes four years after she announced she would remake her first six albums after music manager Scooter Braun<\/strong><\/a> bought her masters via the sale<\/a> of Big Machine Records \u2014 Us Weekly<\/em> is breaking down the key lyrics from Speak Now (Taylor\u2019s Version).<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018Better Than Revenge (Taylor\u2019s Version)\u2019<\/h3>\n

Back in 2010, Swift infamously sang, \u201cShe\u2019s not a saint, and she\u2019s not what you think \/ she\u2019s an actress, whoa \/ She\u2019s better known for the things that she does \/ On the mattress, whoa\u201d \u2014 and after years of speculation, she\u2019s tweaked the track in the 2023 version.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a moth to the flame \/ She was holding the matches, whoa,\u201d the new lyrics read.<\/p>\n

Swift is long-rumored to have penned \u201cBetter Than Revenge\u201d about Camilla Belle<\/strong><\/a>, the actress Joe Jonas<\/strong> <\/a>dated shortly after he ended his romance with Swift<\/a> in 2008 (via a 27-second phone call).<\/p>\n

Four years after its original release in 2010, she addressed the discussion surrounding the song being sexist, telling The Guardian<\/em> in 2014: \u201cI was 18 when I wrote that. That\u2019s the age you are when you think someone can actually take your boyfriend. Then you grow up and realize no one take someone from you if they don\u2019t want to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Swift never confirmed who the song was about, Belle, perhaps most known for starring in the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls<\/em>, publicly took Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s side when the \u201cTeenage Dream\u201d singer was feuding with Swift in 2015.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFinding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman,\u201d Perry tweeted after Swift falsely accused Nicki Minaj of calling her out for her MTV VMA nomination for Video of the Year. (Minaj was actually addressing the lack of Black artists in the category, and Swift admitted she \u201cmissed the point\u201d and \u201cmisspoke.\u201d)

For the record, following her split from Jonas, Swift was linked to Lucas Till<\/strong><\/a>, Taylor Lautner<\/strong><\/a> (whom she penned \u201cBack to December\u201d about<\/a>) and John Mayer<\/strong><\/a> (the famous inspiration behind \u201cDear John\u201d) when she wrote Speak Now.<\/p>\n

Since Swift dropped the name of the vault songs, fans have been speculating about \u201cWhen Emma Falls in Love\u201d being about Emma Stone<\/strong><\/a>, whom the Grammy winner has been friends with since 2008.<\/a><\/p>\n

Some listeners have connected the \u201clittle miss sunshine\u201d lyric to Stone singing Natasha Bedingfield\u2019s hit \u201cPocketful of Sunshine\u201d in the 2010 movie Easy A.<\/em><\/p>\n
