Samantha Morton<\/a>‘s sister has died at the age of 53 – 18 months after her biological dad passed away.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n

The 49-year-old actress – one of nine children, and spent most of her childhood in care after her parents split when she was two – revealed that one of her siblings departed in April, and she is “still dealing with the coroners and the trauma” four months later.<\/p>\n
Samantha – whose biological dad and stepdad, who died in 2007, were both alcoholics, who spent much of their lives in prison, the latter for attempted murder, while her mom suffered a breakdown – told The Sunday Times’ Culture magazine: “My relationship with my past changes as I age and my children age, but things keep happening. I sadly lost my sister on April 22 this year, she was 53.<\/p>\n
“I am still dealing with the coroners and the trauma. I lost my real father 18 months ago. Trauma. So the past is always with me, and I’m not saying I’m not going to be all right next week, but every day I wake, say a prayer and say, ‘Please help me.'”<\/p>\n

The Odyssey star added: “Someone told me I was resilient when I was younger, but sometimes you’ve got no choice other than to be resilient because if you’re not, you’re dead.”<\/p>\n
\nSamantha is a mom to two daughters and one son – actress Esme Creed-Miles, 26, with her ex-partner, Charlie Creed-Miles, 54, as well as Edie, 18, and Theodore, 14, with filmmaker Harry Holm.<\/p>\n
\nLast December, the Anemone alum said it is an “absolute miracle” she is still alive.<\/p>\n
\nSamantha spent most of her childhood in care and was sexually abused by residential workers at the age of 13, and she is thankful that the “trauma” she has been through did not lead to an early death.<\/p>\n
\nThe Oscar nominee – who reported being abused to social workers and police, but neither took sufficient action – told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “It\u2019s a miracle I\u2019m here talking to you today.<\/p>\n
\n“The older I get, and the more I reflect, the more I\u2019m like, it\u2019s an absolute miracle I\u2019m not dead. <\/p>\n
\n“Knowing friends who have died or taken their own life due to the trauma, the effects of it…<\/p>\n
\n“Every day I read about another child who has died unnecessarily, as far as I believe, due to neglect, violence and abuse.<\/p>\n
\n“Situations where the child has no rights and can\u2019t defend itself – and then, years later, you\u2019ve got the effects of that trauma that has such a negative impact on the adult. Not only does the individual suffer, but society suffers.”<\/p>\n
