Hilaria Baldwin<\/strong><\/a> opened up about being misunderstood by the public ever since she got married to husband Alec Baldwin<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to clear up misconceptions \u2014 it is like I\u2019m the best cleaner in the world \u2014 since I met my husband and I entered the public world,\u201d Hilaria, 42, exclusively told Us while promoting Fox\u2019s new show Nation\u2019s Dumbest.<\/em><\/p>\n

The experience taught Hilaria an important lesson.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what you do. Stop proving things. Just be who you are. The right people are going to see you. And the people who are not going to see you, they didn\u2019t want to anyway,\u201d she noted. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing you can do to change that because that\u2019s on them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hilaria continued: \u201cWhat they\u2019re seeing is actually their own reflection. So at this point, it is what it is. I am who I am. I\u2019m going to forget things. I\u2019m going to know things. I\u2019m not going to know other things. And maybe we\u2019re all surprised \u2014 including me \u2014 about some of the things that I can somehow pull out of my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alec, 68, and Hilaria tied the knot in 2012. They have since welcomed seven children<\/a>: Carmen Gabriela, 12, Rafael Thomas, 11, Leonardo \u00c1ngel Charles, 9, Romeo Alejandro David, 8, Eduardo \u201cEdu\u201d Pao Lucas, 5, Mar\u00eda Luc\u00eda Victoria, 5, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 3.<\/p>\n

After being thrust into the public eye,<\/a> Hilaria has gotten to show her authentic self in projects such as Dancing With the Stars, The Baldwins<\/em> and now Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have moments where I\u2019ll have conversations with myself and I\u2019m like, \u2018Hilaria, what\u2019s wrong with you? Why do you put yourself in these situations?\u2019 And I think it is curiosity and that I do believe that people are inherently good,\u201d she said about remaining in the spotlight despite online negativity. \u201cAnd I do believe that even though the negative can feel loud, there\u2019s so much more good.\u201d<\/p>\n

And when I put myself in these experiences, I grow and I learn and I think I make myself a better person. Can I be dramatic sometimes? 100 percent. Will I do it again? Yes, I will be dramatic again. But at the same time, I am somebody where I wear my heart on my sleeve. You only live once, you might as well make it count.\u201d<\/p>\n
