George Clooney<\/a>, 65, and Amal Clooney, 48, recently confirmed they had evacuated their nearby home in Brignoles with their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, because of the fires. <\/p>\n\nThe wildfire threat comes just weeks after the latest development in Angelina and 62-year-old Brad\u2019s years-long legal battle over Ch\u00e2teau Miraval, which continued even after the former couple finalised their divorce settlement in December 2024. <\/p>\n
\nThe pair, whose relationship began after co-starring in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, were together for more than a decade before Angelina filed for divorce in 2016. Brad has recently returned to cinemas with F1, while Angelina has remained in the spotlight following her acclaimed performance as opera singer Maria Callas in Maria.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to court documents obtained by People, Angelina recently opposed Brad\u2019s request for financial records dating back to 2017.<\/p>\n
\nBrad\u2019s filing stated: \u201cJolie has made her alleged financial vulnerability central to her case.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAngelina\u2019s legal team disputed that characterisation in its response.<\/p>\n
\nThe filing stated: \u201cThe issue is not whether Jolie needed the money \u2013 the issue is that she was trying to untangle her life and her finances from her controlling and abusive ex-husband.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThat distinction makes all the difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBrad\u2019s lawyers argued Angelina had made her finances relevant to the dispute by claiming she sought \u201cfinancial independence\u201d and had concluded she needed to sell her interest in Ch\u00e2teau Miraval to achieve that goal.<\/p>\n
\nAngelina\u2019s attorneys responded she \u201chas never alleged that she was in financial distress.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe latest court filings follow a California Superior Court ruling in June granting Brad permission to question members of the Stoli Group under oath after his legal team argued the company possessed information relating to Angelina\u2019s sale of her stake in the winery.<\/p>\n
\nBrad first sued Angelina in February 2022, alleging she sold her share of Ch\u00e2teau Miraval without his consent despite what he said had been an agreement that neither party would sell their interest without the approval of the other.<\/p>\n
\nAngelina later filed a countersuit alleging Brad had been \u201cwaging a vindictive war against\u201d her since she initiated divorce proceedings.<\/p>\n
\nThe estate itself has become one of the most recognisable symbols of the former couple\u2019s lengthy legal dispute. <\/p>\n
\nOnce the family home where they married in 2014, Ch\u00e2teau Miraval has remained at the centre of multiple lawsuits over ownership and control of the business.<\/p>\n
\nWhile the legal proceedings continue in California, firefighters in southern France are continuing efforts to contain the wildfires threatening parts of the Provence region. <\/p>\n
\nImages published by TMZ showed dense smoke rising near the estate, although no visible damage to Ch\u00e2teau Miraval itself was evident in the aerial photographs.<\/p>\n
