This is the formal precursor to a lawsuit against the PCSD.<\/p>\n<p>According to his filing, Palazuelos was held \u201cwithout probable cause\u201d for seven to eight hours after being pulled over. It\u2019s not good evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28525059-notice-of-claim-carlos-palazuelos\/?embed=1\" width=\"612\" height=\"792\" style=\"border: 1px solid #d8dee2; border-radius: 0.5rem; width: 100%; height: 100%; aspect-ratio: 612 \/ 792\" allow=\"fullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the PCSD has refused to clear Palazuelos\u2019 name. There are, obviously, paranoid conspiracy theorists who are convinced that he is a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>The family will file a lawsuit, seeking $2.5 million for Palazuelos, $500,000 for Maddox, and $250,000 for Josefina Maddox, who owns the house.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, they want Palazuelos\u2019 name cleared publicly.<\/p>\n<p>Many of us can imagine the horror of our homes being ransacked for no apparent reason, our loved ones manhandled or handcuffed without any clear cause, and all for nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Unless investigators are holding onto some secret belief that Palazuelos is involved, it\u2019s unclear why they would not seek to clear his name. (Also, it\u2019s generally the municipality, not the department, that pays to settle these cases \u2014 taxpayers pay while officers sued for wrongdoing often face no repercussions.)<\/p>\n<p>They have 60 days to respond to the notice.
