Britney Spears<\/a><\/strong> was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday night (Jul. 05, 2023) in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n The 41-year-old pop star allegedly approached NBA star Victor Wembanyama<\/strong> and was backhanded in the face by Damian Smith<\/strong>, the San Antonio Spurs\u2019 director of team security, leading her to file a police report, via TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n The apparent incident happened at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel around 8:30 PM. Britney, along with her husband Sam Asghari<\/a><\/strong> and two other people went for dinner when they spotted the sports star.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re told she\u2019s a fan and went over to him to ask if they could take a photo together. She tapped him on his back, right shoulder and, we\u2019re told the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs \u2014 the team that drafted Victor last month \u2014 instantly backhanded her, causing her to fall to the ground \u2026 knocking her glasses off,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n According to TMZ<\/a>:<\/p>\n Brian Grajales, a Canadian who was outside Catch restaurant Wednesday night says he saw Britney approach Victor\u2019s entourage, clearly wanting to take a photo with him.<\/p>\n Brian says she \u201cinfiltrated\u201d her way into his circle, leaned in, and in a British accent, said, \u201cExcuse me, sir \u2026 excuse me, sir.\u201d She then touched Victor\u2019s back, and that\u2019s when he says the head of Victor\u2019s security backhanded her right in the face.<\/p>\n One law enforcement source told TMZ, the security guy hit Britney\u2019s hand and her hand then hit her face, but Brian squarely disputes that. He says the security guy struck her.<\/p>\n He says Victor walked into the restaurant, and, in a British accent, Britney screamed, \u201cThis is f**king America!!!\u201d<\/p>\n After the incident, the San Antonio Spurs player\u2019s head of security then \u201cwent over to Britney and apologized and their security teams chatted for a while,\u201d the insider said, noting that \u201ca police report was filed by Britney\u2019s team.\u201d<\/p>\n Spears on Thursday evening (Jul. 06, 2023) released a statement addressing the incident, denying that she grabbed NBA star Victor Wembanyama and claiming that she merely tapped him on the shoulder. This prompted Damian Smith, the Spurs\u2019 director of team security, to \u201cback hand me in the face without looking back.\u201d Spears called the incident a \u201ctraumatic experience,\u201d and pointed out that despite Smith\u2019s insistence that he responded in this manner because Wembanyama is frequently swarmed by fans, \u201cI get swarmed by people all the time.
