Tim Robbins took part in an ayahuasca ceremony<\/p>\n
The Mystic River actor feels “completely lighter” after going through an ayahuasca ceremony to release his years of frustration and recalled how he had a visit of his late mother while under the influence of the Amazonian plant brew.<\/p>\n
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, he said: “They tell you to go in with an intention.<\/p>\n
“My intention was to \u2026 I was frustrated with feeling anger about what was going on in the world, and I said, ‘I want to release that. I don’t want to be consumed by that anger.'”<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Recalling his intense spiritial journey and vision of his late mother, he said: “What she said was, ‘You’re injured. You’re a warrior, and you’re injured and you need to rest, but the fight’s not over.’ “<\/p>\n
\nAsked what he was fighting, he said: “I was battling my frustration with the dissolution of society, people being angry at each other over ridiculous things, long friendships being affected, people being cancelled for expressing their opinion, all this stuff.<\/p>\n
\n“And I wanted out. I wanted to be absolved of that. I didn’t want to be engaged in it.”<\/p>\n
\nThe 67-year-old star was profoundly changed by the experience.<\/p>\n
\nHe said of seeing his mother: “I definitely felt her presence there. It was no doubt it was her.”<\/p>\n
\nElsewhere during the interview, Tim argued cancel culture bears a number of similarities to life under the former Soviet Union as he recalled the discussions he had had with audience members in Romania while touring with his play Topsy Turvy.<\/p>\n
\nTim had asked them what aspects of modern life reminded them of the communist era and he noted: “They said, ‘Without a doubt, cancel culture.’ “<\/p>\n
\nHe recalled one person said: “Well, Soviet Union used to keep files on all of us, right? So, as long as you’re a good party member, there wouldn’t be a thing said. But once you stepped out of line, they brought out that old file. Now that affair with your secretary from 30 years ago is going to ruin your life. They’re going to ruin your family. They’re going to kill your career. And they’re going to make a big public display of it to show other people to stay in line.’ “<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “They felt like cancel culture was basically operating in the same way as the Soviet Union did.<\/p>\n
\n“It was really interesting to see that perspective in Eastern Europe \u2014 people that have, you know, lived under that kind of oppressive situation and their perspective on modern day.”<\/p>\n
