Speaking their truth. <\/span>Jon and Kate Plus 8<\/span><\/i><\/a> alum Hannah Gosselin<\/strong><\/a> and Collin Gosselin<\/strong><\/a> open up about growing up with mom Kate Gosselin<\/a><\/strong> following her divorce from their father, Jon Gosselin<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI know my mother was going through a lot of things. I mean, a divorce and plenty of different things that can\u2019t be easy to go through,\u201d Collin, 19, shared during a rare interview with Vice TV for their upcoming series, <\/span>Dark Side of the 2000s. <\/span><\/i>\u201cAnd, you know, I want to think that she needed someone to take out her anger and her frustration on. And it was just kind of me, you know, I was in the way and I was there. So, she chose me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Following Kate, 48, and Jon\u2019s divorce in 2009, the mother of eight revealed that Collin was admitted into an institution to deal with his behavioral issues. The teen \u2013 who is one of the former couple\u2019s sextuplets \u2013 eventually moved in with Jon, 46, in 2018, after he was granted full custody.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to say I was a perfect child,\u201d Collin told Vice TV in a preview clip shared via TikTok<\/a> on Friday, July 7. \u201cBut I\u2019d say my misbehaving was no different from my siblings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n According to Hannah, 19, another of the former couple\u2019s sextuplets, Collin was often \u201cseparated\u201d from the rest of his siblings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLike he would not get to come and play outside with us. He would eat dinner at different times<\/a> than us,\u201d she said alongside her brother in a clip from the series which premieres on July 18. \u201cI don\u2019t think effort was made in the home to help him learn what behavior is acceptable, what behavior is not acceptable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n While Collin remains estranged from his mother, he previously told <\/span>Entertainment Tonight <\/span><\/i><\/a>that reconciling with Kate \u201cwould be ideal,\u201d despite his situation being, \u201cworse than what you would say the average teenage kid goes through with their parent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAfter being [at my dad\u2019s], I didn\u2019t have a relationship with her<\/a>. Even before [being] there, I don\u2019t think we had much of a relationship, and I think that just kept tearing it even more down,\u201d he told <\/span>ET <\/span><\/i>in November 2022. \u201cI want to believe it was because of TV and what being in the public eye does to a family. I think it tore us apart. It gave us less time to actually be together as a family, [and] more time to be in the public eye.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Along with Collin and Hannah, siblings Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden<\/a> make up Jon and Kate\u2019s sextuplets.
