Jinger & Jeremy<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Jinger chatted with Joy-Anna about their friendship \u2014 and how, as children, they weren\u2019t close.<\/p>\n\u201cI would say we were close in proximity but not like relationally,\u201d Joy-Anna characterized.<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cThe bond was not really there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was an age gap, and I felt like the age gap was segregated by sections,\u201d Jinger assessed. Both women are about 4 years apart.<\/p>\n
She added: \u201c[Our family was] separated by an age gap of the older kids, the middle kids, the younger kids. I was, kind of, in the older section for many years [of] the six oldest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
<\/svg><\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\nSo, even though Jinger is 32 and Joy is 28, their 4-year age gap had their notorious parents sorting<\/em> them differently.<\/p>\n\u201cI was in the older half, and then I just felt like you were one of the little kids and you were sandwiched between, you know, a lot of boys or whatever,\u201d Jinger described.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also [have] different personalities,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m saying when you were little, that\u2019s what I remember,\u201d Jinger said. \u201cLike, you\u2019re much <\/em>younger than me. It\u2019s crazy \u2018cause you\u2019re not.\u201d<\/p>\nIn an ordinary household, they might have been free to spend more time together. But, in the Duggar cult, they might as well have been neighbors rather than sisters.<\/p>\nOn her podcast, Jinger Duggar tells her sister why she feels that they are so close now. \u201cI think part of it is because I was so, like, \u2018I will not be a girly girl. I will not wear nice clothes,\u2019\u201d she said of her childhood.<\/p>\n
Joy elaborated: \u201cWe just had very different interests and I was like, \u2018I will never understand why they like shopping so much.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n
Being an adult has changed things, as she admitted: \u201cBut, it\u2019s grown on me.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is very common for people to enjoy certain things \u2014 including but not limited to clothing \u2014 more when they are adults who are able to choose things for themselves. An outfit that you like at 28 is very different from an outfit that your famously poorly dressed mother likes when you\u2019re 10.<\/p>\nJoy-Anna Duggar smiles and agrees with her sister. \u201cWe live so far away, but out of all the sisters, I feel like I do talk to you the most,\u201d Joy-Anna told her older sister.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very, maybe, just chill and we are who we are,\u201d she added. \u201cI feel like we\u2019re in the same season of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
As we have explained in the past, \u201cseason\u201d is a peculiar evangelical expression to refer to eras, chapters, or other segments of one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt least for me on my side, I feel like I can just pick the phone up, and there\u2019s no pressure to talk to you,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut also when we do it\u2019s, like, there\u2019s been no time between our conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
