Didi Conn<\/a> and Olivia Newton-John stayed “very good friends” long after Grease.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Didi Conn starred as Frenchy in Grease<\/p>\n
The 75-year-old actress played Frenchy in the iconic 1978 film and explained that the bond she had with Newton-John \u2013 who played the female lead Sandy Olsson \u2013 lasted beyond Rydell High.<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Times newspaper, Didi said: “We lived very close to each other in Malibu. So I spent more time with her off-set. Oh my goodness, she had horses that were just up the hill from where I lived.<\/p>\n
“And then we did stay very, very good friends.”<\/p>\n

Newton-John passed away at the age of 73 in 2022 from breast cancer complications and Didi explained that her co-star will always have a place in her “heart”.<\/p>\n
\nThe Shining Time Station star \u2013 who revealed that she had successfully battled uterine cancer herself last year \u2013 said: “She was a beautiful person. And she’s in my heart forever.”<\/p>\n
\nConn also recalled how John Travolta \u2013 who starred in Grease as Danny Zuko \u2013 set up a screening of Saturday Night Fever before its release because he wanted to gauge the opinion of the cast.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I remember him saying, ‘I did a movie in Brooklyn last summer. And I don’t know. I don’t think it’s going to do any good.’<\/p>\n
\n“We went, ‘John, this is unbelievable.'”<\/p>\n
\nDidi is happy to be forever linked to Grease and explained that she regularly receives letters from fans of the movie \u2013 which was the highest-grossing film of 1978 and featured timeless songs such as You’re The One That I Want and Summer Nights.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “So many people have written to me about Grease, about doing the show themselves in their high school, and asked me for advice.”<\/p>\n
\nConn insists that she never gets fed up of talking about Grease.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “No, honestly. I’m so grateful. It makes people happy. I mean, how lucky am I?”<\/p>\n
\nDidi explained last month that the surviving cast members are all still close, mirroring the movie’s closing song We Go Together.<\/p>\n
\nShe told People magazine: “And honestly, at the end when we say we’ll always be together, we still are. We’re all still friends.”<\/p>\n
