Oscar winner Glen Hansard<\/strong><\/a> has tragically died at the age of 56.<\/p>\n

You may remember him for winning the Best Original Song Oscar in 2008 for “Falling Slowly” from the movie Once<\/em> alongside Marketa Irglova<\/strong>. They both also starred alongside one another in the movie. He also was the lead singer for rock group The Frames.<\/p>\n

The Irish Times<\/a> is reporting that he passed away in a single vehicle crash that happened outside of Dublin, Ireland at around 4:30 am local time. Reuters<\/a> is reporting it was a motorcycle accident.<\/p>\n

“With broken hearts we announce the passing of Glen Hansard who passed away, in the early hours of this morning, following a road-traffic accident in Dublin,” ATC Management said in a statement.<\/p>\n

No further details have been made available at this time.<\/p>\n

He leaves behind his wife, Maire Saaritsa<\/strong>, and their young son, born in 2022.<\/p>\n
