{"id":254237,"date":"2026-07-28T20:15:40","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:15:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/28\/spaghetti-aglio-e-olio\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T20:15:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:15:40","slug":"spaghetti-aglio-e-olio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/28\/spaghetti-aglio-e-olio\/","title":{"rendered":"spaghetti aglio e olio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Do you ever look around at the ingredients available to you, the energy you have to give to the cooking process \u2014 or, as I recently explained to a medium-sized child shortly before I got uninvited from future family events, the amount of fudge you have left to give from your, uh, bucket of fudge \u2014 and decided to boil spaghetti, toss it with garlicky olive oil, and call it dinner?<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-97073\"\/><br \/><br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55425457542_f70684b722_z.jpg?resize=640%2C427&amp;quality=89&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"spaghetti alio e olio-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"\/><br \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55426555903_c16e8aea9d_z.jpg?resize=640%2C427&amp;quality=89&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"spaghetti alio e olio-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"\/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s an actual, official name for this dish and it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spaghetti_aglio_e_olio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aglio e olio<\/a>, and there is no time like the dog days of summer, or perhaps days you might be spending at the whims of an ill-equipped vacation rental house kitchen, to remind us that it does not matter how many amazing things you know how to cook, nothing gets people to look up from their screens\/rouse from their post-beach slumbers to peer around the corner with piqued interest like the aromatic wizardry of garlic sizzling in olive oil. <em>\u201cOoh, what\u2019s that?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55426825640_03527da2ac_z.jpg?resize=640%2C427&amp;quality=89&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"spaghetti alio e olio-5\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Aglio e olio is a pasta dish from the city of Naples, Italy, but it has legions of fans among exhausted home cooks far and wide due to its short list of ingredients I bet you already have around, and the disproportionately high amount of flavor and joy yielded from them. I\u2019ve used this as a backpocket recipe for years, eating it as-is with a salad, with a side of whatever looked good at the market that week, with a scattering of diced roasted vegetables that had been on their last legs in the fridge, and even, if you so desire (I bet you do) topped with lemony grilled shrimp or chicken thighs. But I also forget that it exists for months at a time, and when I remember it, we\u2019re always thrilled to have it back in the rotation, so consider this a nudge.
