Camila Mendes thinks there’s nothing more beautiful than a strong, muscly woman<\/p>\n
\nThe 32-year-old actress is most well known for starring in TV show Riverdale, but also recently starred as Teela in the blockbuster superhero movie Masters of the Universe. <\/p>\n
\nTaking on the role meant Camila had to embark on a strict exercise regime to in shape ahead of the shoot, and it reminded her once again how much she loves a muscular physique. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI feel like things are changing now, and I think women are starting to realise\u00a0this, but for a long time, women were really scared of weightlifting, and scared of gaining\u00a0muscle and looking manly. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI honestly think there\u2019s nothing more beautiful than seeing\u00a0women who are toned, who have strong muscles. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s such a beautiful image, and I wish\u00a0that was a body type that people were celebrating more.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCamila added that in between takes on the set of the film, she was always \u201cpumping up\u201d so that her muscles looked more \u201cswollen\u201d for the next take. <\/p>\n
\nShe told Hero magazine: \u201cOnce we got our goal physique, it was about maintaining it. Before every\u00a0take we were always pumping up \u2013 there were always a set of weights in my tent. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo we\u00a0would go back and I would just keep doing bicep curls until they called me back [on set].\u00a0We\u2019d have the little sweet treats that would help the blood, because you eat something\u00a0sweet, to go on so that your muscles are more swollen. You\u2019re not drinking water,\u00a0because if you\u2019re dehydrated then your muscles will pop more. There\u2019s a whole thing!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNow Camila has had to restructure her diet and exercise regime as her next role will see her play a heroin addict, so she has ditched the weight lifting in order to lose some weight and look less healthy. <\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cDavid Kingsbury, who was our\u00a0trainer for Masters, was so helpful and informative and so on top of things. I felt very\u00a0protected and supported \u2013 it\u2019s so worth it. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cNow I don\u2019t work out like that anymore at all\u00a0and I\u2019m about to go into this role playing a heroin addict, so I can\u2019t look like someone\u00a0who lifts weights and looks super healthy. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI have to start looking thinner and I haven\u2019t\u00a0been lifting weights as much.\u201d<\/p>\n
