Kelly Ripa<\/strong><\/a> was noticeably absent from Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em> on Monday’s (July 27) episode. <\/p>\n

Her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos<\/strong><\/a> provided an explanation for it during the show, saying she “sends her love.”<\/p>\n

“Kelly <\/strong>had a little bit \u2014 well, it\u2019s not a\u00a0little<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 she had a gum graft surgery,\u201d he continued as he introduced the day’s guest co-host, Kevin Jonas<\/strong><\/a>. He added that she has been getting recommended to do it for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer dentist said five years ago, \u2018You can do it in about five years.’ And she joked, \u2018I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d still be on the air in five years!\u2019\u201d Mark <\/strong>shared.<\/p>\n

According to Mark, Kelly <\/strong>is under doctor’s orders not to speak while she recovers from the dental procedure, which is used to help treat thinning or receding gums by transferring healthy tissue to cover any exposed roots. Cleveland Clinic<\/a> reports it is one of the most common periodontal procedures in the U.S.<\/p>\n

The Riverdale <\/em>alum said she’s “doing well” and “doing great,” but there are a lot of restrictions to follow during the recovery process. She also can’t eat any hard foods and cannot use straws.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Kevin <\/strong>will return as a guest co-host on Tuesday, followed by Mila Kunis<\/strong><\/a> on Wednesday, Pamela Adlon<\/strong><\/a> on Thursday, and Scott Foley<\/strong><\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Clay Aiken<\/strong> reflected on his infamous encounter with Kelly<\/strong><\/a> from back in 2006.<\/p>\n
