Oliver Tree’s mother recalls final conversation<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old musician was one of six victims of a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June (26). <\/p>\n
His mother Christine Begin Nickell was one of the speakers at a memorial event in California on Saturday (25.07.26), and told the crowd that she\u2019d sent him a text message the day before the crash to ask how he was getting on in his bid to quit smoking, adding that he\u2019d \u201cpromised he would give it up once he was on tour\u201d. <\/p>\n
Christine said: \u201cHe FaceTimed me immediately and let out a huge puff of cigarette smoke in my face – but he was so happy and excited about life that day.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that Oliver had been excited to travel to a mountain top house where he was planning \u201cto make TikToks and music with his friends\u201d, and said he \u201cloved having epic days – each one more memorable than the last\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nClips of the celebration of life event were shared on Oliver\u2019s YouTube page, showing the speeches and musical performances that were staged to remember the late musician. <\/p>\n
\nLogan Paul was one of the famous faces at the memorial, and described Oliver as \u201ceveryone\u2019s best friend\u201d, calling him an \u201cadventurer with an incomparable zest for life and the ultimate ability to make anyone feel seen and heard\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nHe continued: \u201cOliver is a generational artist whose legacy and music will last forever, and he\u2019d be proud of all of us for keeping our heads up high by celebrating the impact of his time here on Earth, because at the end of the day, life goes on.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOliver\u2019s team revealed in a post on his official Instagram account on June 22 that his body had been flown back to California, writing: \u201cRest in peace Oliver Tree Nickell. Your legacy will live on forever. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cOliver is now back in California where he can finally rest.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nIt went on to share Oliver\u2019s \u201cfinal wish\u201d – a foundation established in his name – which he\u2019d detailed in his will. <\/p>\n
\nThe post continued: \u201cHis legacy will live on through his foundation\/endowment named ‘Dr. Oliver Tree\u2019s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses’ coming soon. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world. That was his final wish.”<\/p>\n
