Rebecca Luna<\/strong><\/a> has bravely passed away on her own terms.<\/p>\n

The TikTok creator and influencer died on Saturday (July 25) at the age of 49 following an early-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She chose medical aid in dying (MAID), and made that decision public, documenting her experience over the past months.<\/p>\n

\u201cRebecca<\/strong> passed away July 25th at approximately 1:15 p.m. surrounded by her loved ones. Thank you for your support and privacy,” a message confirmed on her account over the weekend.<\/a> Her GoFundMe<\/a> in her account also supplied an update, written by Maya<\/strong>, her eldest daughter.<\/p>\n

“Young-Onset Alzheimer\u2019s and MAID Advocate,” her bio reads.<\/p>\n

What is MAID?<\/h3>\n

“Medical aid in dying is an end-of-life healthcare option in which a mentally capable, terminally ill adult may request a prescription from their healthcare provider for a medication they can choose to ingest to die peacefully,” per Compassion & Choices.<\/a><\/p>\n

“All U.S. medical aid in dying laws require a terminal diagnosis with a prognosis of six months or less to live. This is a defining feature of medical aid in dying as practiced in the United States.”<\/p>\n

What did Rebecca Luna say about her diagnosis?<\/h3>\n

Rebecca<\/strong> provided the reasoning for her GoFundMe<\/a> as “End of Life Expenses.” <\/p>\n

She wrote:<\/p>\n

Hi, as a lot of you know I was diagnosed at age 48 with Young Onset Alzheimer\u2019s. I\u2019m 49 and I will be accessing MAID as my decline has come faster than I had hoped. I’ve been a single mama (proudly) all my life so My lovely followers suggested I do a go fund me for the end of life expenses so I don\u2019t leave my loved ones behind with that responsibility on top of their own grief. All blessings and well wishes are warmly appreciated and I love you all. I couldn\u2019t have come this far without you.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Throughout dozens of videos, Rebecca <\/strong>opened up about her experience with the diagnosis, doctor appointments, and educating viewers about end-of-life options.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, she confirmed she moved her MAID date from early August to this weekend.<\/p>\n

What did Rebecca Luna say in her final video?<\/h3>\n

\u201cPrior to the dates changing for the last year and a half has been legally and medically not my choice. But for the last two weeks I\u2019ve been making the decision. And it\u2019s a hard decision to make, because I\u2019m living in a body that doesn\u2019t feel comfortable, safe, good, nothing. It feels terrible. And so the idea of waiting two weeks felt like too much,” she confirmed in her final video.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is when I get to prioritize myself, and I haven\u2019t done that my whole life,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Rebecca <\/strong>said she was standing up for the 5-year-old version of herself that \u201cnobody stood up for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope if I leave this planet that\u2019s the only thing I teach \u2014 and that\u2019s the only thing that somebody gets something out of \u2014\u00a0is that you just need to act your way into loving yourself. If I can do it, you can do it too,” she shared in her final words to her audience.<\/p>\n
