The spirit of vengeance lives! Ryan Gosling<\/strong><\/a> finally joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a> at San Diego Comic-Con 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gosling, 45, made a surprise appearance at Marvel Studios\u2019 Hall H panel on Saturday, July 25, to confirm that he will star in a reboot of the Ghost Rider<\/em> franchise. (Nicolas Cage<\/strong> previously played the character in two movies \u2014 2007\u2019s Ghost Rider<\/em> and 2012\u2019s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance <\/em>\u2014 that exist outside the MCU continuity.)<\/p>\n

He will team up on a new Ghost Rider<\/em> movie with Stranger Things<\/em> director Shawn Lev<\/strong>y, who previously worked with Marvel Studios on 2024\u2019s Deadpool & Wolverine<\/em>. (Gosling and Levy collaborated on the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter<\/em>.)<\/p>\n

There was even more exciting news about the future of the MCU beyond December\u2019s Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> and 2027\u2019s Avengers: Secret Wars<\/em>, including an update on the long-awaited Black Panther III<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRyan Reynolds confirmed he tried to get Nicolas Cage to make a cameo as Ghost Rider in Deadpool & Wolverine. Early concept art for the movie, revealed by Marvel Studios visual development supervisor Rodney Fuentebella following its July release, shows that at least one point, Cage and Ben Affleck\u2019s Daredevil were considered for cameos alongside [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ryan Gosling Will Star in \u2018Ghost Rider\u2019 Movie<\/h2>\n

Gosling surprised fans by showing up unannounced to Hall H to confirm he will play the superhero Ghost Rider in a 2028 reboot directed by Deadpool & Wolverine<\/em>\u2019s Levy.<\/p>\n

The Project Hail Mary<\/em> actor has publicly campaigned for the Ghost Rider role in the past \u2014 revealing to the \u201cHappy Sad Confused\u201d podcast all the way back in 2022 that he\u2019d discussed the part with Marvel Studios.<\/p>\n

During the Hall H panel, Gosling described Ghost Rider as \u201ca character I\u2019ve wanted to play for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Levy praised Gosling during the Comic-Con panel as \u201cthe absolute s***t\u201d and promised Ghost Rider<\/em> will be worth the wait for fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s ride, we\u2019ll see you in 2028,\u201d the filmmaker teased.<\/p>\n

Ghost Rider is an antihero who first appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics in 1972 when Johnny Blaze, the first incarnation of the hero, sold his soul to the demon Mephisto to save his foster father\u2019s life. After Blaze\u2019s head was mystically transformed into a fiery skull, Ghost Rider jumped on his signature black motorcycle to wreak havoc on the underworld.<\/p>\n

There have been other incarnations of Ghost Rider throughout the decades \u2014 including high school student Robbie Reyes, who was played by Gabriel Luna<\/strong> in Marvel\u2019s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em> TV show.<\/p>\n

Gosling\u2019s longtime partner, Eva Mendes<\/strong>, starred in Cage\u2019s 2007 version of Ghost Rider<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Black Panther 3\u2019 Will Star Industry\u2019s David Johnson<\/h2>\n

Acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler<\/strong> announced during the Hall H panel that he will return to write and direct Black Panther III<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Coogler and Marvel Studios chief creative officer Kevin Feige<\/strong> welcomed Industry<\/em> and The Long Walk<\/em> actor David Jonsson<\/strong> to the stage to confirm that he will lead Black Panther III<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Jonsson is expected to play T\u2019Challa II, the son of the late Chadwick Boseman<\/strong>\u2019s iconic Black Panther. The character was teased at the end of 2022\u2019s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em> when Shuri (Letitia Wright<\/strong>) discovered that T\u2019Challa and Nakia (Lupita Nyong\u2019o<\/strong>) secretly welcomed a son named Toussaint. (Boseman died in 2020.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say thank you so much,\u201d Jonsson said in Hall H. \u201cThank you, Ryan. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you to this amazing family that I honor. [It\u2019s] a privilege and blessing to join.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on, \u201cI don\u2019t want to say too much because I want to let the screen do the talking, but believe me, the honor is entirely mine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Black Panther III<\/em> is expected to premiere in 2028.<\/p>\n

\u2018Avengers: Doomsday\u2019 Unveiled a Returning Star and New Footage<\/h2>\n

Some exciting casting news kicked off the Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> portion of Marvel Studios\u2019 presentation, as Hayley Atwell<\/strong><\/a> was confirmed to reprise her role as Peggy Carter opposite Chris Evans<\/strong>\u2019 previously-announced Steve Rogers \/ Captain America<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fresh off the debut of the extended trailer for Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> on Monday, July 20, fans in Hall H got an exclusive sneak peek at brand new footage on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Per Variety<\/em><\/a>, the new clip focuses heavily on Robert Downey Jr.<\/strong>\u2019s villainous Dr. Doom sitting on his throne in Latveria as various clips of the MCU heroes in battle are interspersed.<\/p>\n

Fantastic 4 member Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby<\/strong>) provides some background on Doom, describing him as \u201cbroken as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s always the smartest guy in every world. He used to be different. He used to be kind, he used to be caring \u2026 Everything he loved was taken from him,\u201d she explains. \u201cI knew he was lost but I did not realize that he was broken.\u201d<\/p>\n

The footage climaxes with Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal<\/strong>) questioning whether Doom could be responsible for mass carnage across Earth.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of you have lived stolen lives. You refuse to give them back,\u201d Doom snarls.<\/p>\n

When Thor (Chris Hemsworth<\/strong>) wields his trusty hammer Mjolnir against Doom, he is quickly pushed aside as the villain unleashes an army of Sentinels from the X-Men<\/em> universe to fight Earth\u2019s mightiest heroes.<\/p>\n
