Jim Carrey<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out after the death of The Mask<\/em><\/strong> director Chuck Russell<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you didn’t see the sad news, it was announced on Wednesday (July 22) that Chuck<\/strong> had passed away at his home in the San Diego area. He was 74-years-old. As of right now, a cause of death has not bee disclosed.<\/p>\n

Following Chuck<\/strong>‘s death, Jim<\/strong>, 64, released a statement to Deadline<\/a><\/em> mourning the filmmaker.<\/p>\n

“I consider it a privilege to have worked with Chuck Russell, who during the shooting of The Mask,<\/em> created an ebullient, childlike atmosphere of wonder and camaraderie on his set,\u201d Jim<\/strong> said. \u201cThe entire cast and crew were touched and inspired by his playfulness.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery one of us has been many years blessed by that buoyant and timeless moment,” he considered. “I consider The Mask<\/em> one of the jewels of my creative life. Thank you, Chuck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jim<\/strong> starred in the 1994 comedy alongside Cameron Diaz<\/strong><\/a> in her acting debut. The cast also included Peter Riegert, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck<\/strong>, and and Richard Jeni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Chuck <\/strong>is also known for directing 1987’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors<\/em>, 1988’s The Blob<\/em>, and 2002’s The Scorpion King<\/em>. <\/p>\n
