Michael J Fox has enjoyed his acting return<\/p>\n
\nThe 65-year-old actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the early 90s, and he retired from acting due to the increasing unreliability of his speech in 2020, before performing a U-turn.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking about his return to acting, Michael told The Hollywood Reporter: “It\u2019s really prolonged my life and made my life interesting in a way that I didn\u2019t think it would be to this point.”<\/p>\n
\nMichael – who is best known for starring in the Back to the Future film franchise – is philosophical about his health situation, and acknowledges that it will determine what he can and cannot do moving forwards.<\/p>\n

\nThe actor – who founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund research into Parkinson’s disease – said: “I\u2019m not retired from acting, but if I didn\u2019t act again, it would be for a very good reason. I let Parkinson\u2019s make decisions for me.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Michael previously insisted that he has no regrets about ending his acting retirement to star in Shrinking.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor appeared in the third season of Shrinking, the hit Apple comedy-drama show, and Michael previously insisted that he relished the experience, despite the challenges he faced.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Variety: “It was the first time ever I get to show up on-set, and I didn\u2019t have to worry about am I too tired or coughing or anything. I just do it.<\/p>\n
\n“It was really good, because for the moments when I say, \u2018I\u2019m not going to be able to do this,\u2019 then I say, \u2018Well, I\u2019ll just deal with how I can\u2019t do it in the scene.\u2019 And you get through it.”<\/p>\n
\nMichael later revealed that he hoped to return for season four of the show.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if he’ll find time to shoot season four, the Hollywood star told People: “Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.<\/p>\n
\n“I love Bill [Lawrence, the show’s co-creator] and I’m so happy it’s a success. And it’s such a great time being with those actors.<\/p>\n
\n“It’s so important to me to have that to go to. And I would absolutely do that in a heartbeat.”<\/p>\n
