Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a> is celebrating her 57th birthday<\/a> with some words of wisdom.<\/p>\n Taking to Instagram<\/a> on Friday, July 24, the \u201cLove Don\u2019t Cost a Thing\u201d singer commemorated her special day by posting a video of herself riding in a car with the windows down as the sun shined on her and the wind gently blew across her hair.<\/p>\n JLo chose a reading of Theodore Roosevelt<\/strong>\u2019s poignant 1910 speech, \u201cThe Man in the Arena\u201d as the audio to accompany the post.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better,\u201d the speech begins.<\/p>\n The passage made famous by the late president then praised \u201cthe man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again.\u201d<\/p>\n For her part, Lopez captioned her Instagram with a simple message, writing, \u201cWhen you keep going it just keeps getting better \u2728\ud83e\udd73.\u201d<\/p>\n In the past, Lopez has spoken candidly about the rhetoric surrounding aging in the public eye<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to Elle<\/em> in 2020 ahead of launching her JLo Beauty collection, Lopez said age should never be mentioned when complimenting someone\u2019s looks.<\/p>\n \u201cYou never want to hear you look great for 50. [People] want to just hear you look great, no matter what age you are. And for me and for the company, that is a big part of it,\u201d the actress told the outlet at the time. \u201cWe don\u2019t want people going, you look great for 60, 50, 40, 35. You want people to just go, wow, you look amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201c[When people say] \u2018Oh my God, she\u2019s 50.\u2019 It\u2019s like, does it matter? You\u2019re just your best self, no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n In December 2024, Lopez also reacted to a reporter who joked about her age<\/a> \u201cgetting up there.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cListen, I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s been 30 years since Selena<\/em>.
