Kit and Lauren\u2019s relationship was the focus of Ransom Canyon<\/em>\u2018s second season<\/a> \u2014 but what happened to those adorable kittens?<\/p>\n

During season 2, streaming now on Netflix, Kit (Casey W. Johnson<\/strong>) and Lauren (Lizzy Greene<\/strong>) explored the potential of their palpable chemistry despite her relationship with his brother, Lucas (Garrett Wareing<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

One bonding aspect of Kit and Lauren\u2019s budding relationship centered on a stray cat the eldest Russell kept in Lucas\u2019 room. It turned out the cat was pregnant and gave birth to kittens<\/a>, which Kit and Lauren looked after together.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was probably the best part of the season,\u201d Johnson, 31, exclusively told Us<\/em> about the sweet cast addition. \u201cWe got a lot of time with the cats and they were up for adoption. At least two of them got adopted from the crew.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI was definitely tempted because I would love to have a cat and they were very cute and they\u2019re all very sweet. I\u2019m glad someone got a couple of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us<\/em> can confirm that the kittens were up for adoption at Best Friends Animal Society<\/a>. The Ransom Canyon<\/em> crew ended up adopting the entire group, with creator April Blair<\/strong> calling her kitten Tater Tot in honor of Wareing\u2019s nickname for the show\u2019s costume designer.<\/p>\n

Megan Stone<\/strong>, the line producer assistant, named her kitten Gracie, after the show\u2019s dance hall. Sheila Trujillo<\/strong> from the makeup department adopted a kitten that was renamed to Ransom while Alyssa Robinson<\/strong> from the props team brought home two of the orange kittens.<\/p>\n

The only cast member who was left out<\/a> was Wareing, 24. Despite his love for cats, Wareing didn\u2019t get to film with the animals because his character Lucas wasn\u2019t as thrilled by the idea of a furry friend taking residence inside his closet.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop. I can\u2019t talk about it,\u201d he quipped to Us. \u201cI am such a cat guy. I was so sad I wasn\u2019t on set that day.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his disappointment, Wareing said he attempted to find the positive.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will say that April took home one of those kittens from set and now he is her pride and joy!\u201d he explained. \u201cMaybe it was a good thing I wasn\u2019t on set that day \u2026 because I would\u2019ve come home with a few too many prides and joys of my own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Jodi Thomas<\/strong>\u2018 book series about a town that is full of drama, romance and hope, Ransom Canyon<\/em> premiered in April 2025 and introduced Us<\/em> to the locals of Texas Hill Country. Josh Duhamel<\/strong>\u2018s character, Staten, was grieving two major losses in season 1 while navigating his undeniable connection with childhood friend Quinn (Minka Kelly<\/strong>), who also caught the eye of Staten\u2019s brother-in-law and love triangle rival Davis (Eoin Macken<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

There was also Yancy (Jack Schumacher<\/strong>), who had a past he was hiding<\/a> from Ellie (Marianly Tejada<\/strong>). Viewers found themselves further invested in a love triangle between high school students Lucas (Wareing), Lauren (Greene) and Reid (Andrew Liner<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
