Jamie Campbell Bower<\/a> has been cast as Celeborn in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n

The 37-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as Henry Creel\/Vecna in Stranger Things, was previously revealed to be joining upcoming season of the fantasy series and now his character has been confirmed.<\/p>\n
As announced by Empire magazine, he will be playing Celeborn, husband of Morfydd Clark’s character Galadriel.<\/p>\n
The Elf Lord was previously played by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’s original The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Jamie described the character as a “lover-boy”, while offering a hint of his inspiration for the role.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien\u2019s relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart.<\/p>\n
\n“Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Morfydd noted she approves of Jamie’s casting.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “She\u2019s kind of rude to him in the books. She\u2019s the queen! But Jamie looks exactly like how I would imagine Celeborn. He\u2019s such an Elf.”<\/p>\n
\nThe upcoming third season of The Rings of POwer takes place at the heigh of the War of the Elves and Sauron.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the official synopsis, it provides the backdrop “as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last”.<\/p>\n
\nJamie previously opened up about the inspiration he took for his performance in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.<\/p>\n
\nHe admitted Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple who led more than 900 of his followers to mass suicide in 1978, was an “early reference” for his alter ego’s latest incantation, Mr. WhatsIt, as seen in the second volume of the final season of the show.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Variety: \u201cJim Jones was an early reference for me.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe was on the mood board, even with regard to certain things that he\u2019s saying when the kids are all in front of him. <\/p>\n
\n“There were points where I thought, \u2018Do I say the word ‘you’ or do I use the word ‘we’? We\u2019re a family now.\u2019 That\u2019s really grim! <\/p>\n
\n“It totally can remove the idea of autonomy, so definitely there had to be that level of cult leader-esqueness about him.\u201d<\/p>\n
