There’s some major cast changes coming to Law & Order<\/a><\/strong><\/em> for season 26.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (July 22), Deadline<\/a><\/em> reported that Reid Scott<\/strong><\/a>, who has played Senior Detective Vincent Riley for the past three seasons, is leaving the NBC legal drama.<\/p>\n

Reid<\/strong>‘s departure is said to be his decision related to the strain caused by his cross-country commute for nine months out of the year. He and his family are based in California while Law & Order<\/em> films in New York City.<\/p>\n

Det. Riley will be getting a proper ending as Reid<\/strong> is already back on set filming a few episodes to wrap his character’s arc.<\/p>\n

<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With Reid<\/strong> leaving the show, James Badge Dale<\/strong><\/a> has joined the cast for the new season. He will be replacing Det. Riley as a new Senior Detective, though more character details are being kept under wraps.<\/p>\n

This won’t be James<\/strong>‘ first time appearing in the Dick Wolf<\/strong>-created universe. He previously had a one episode stint on Law & Order: Special Victims<\/em> Unit<\/em> in 2002. <\/p>\n

As of right now, the exact timeline for Reid<\/strong>‘s exact and James<\/strong>‘ debut hasn’t been revealed.<\/p>\n
