Malcolm-Jamal Warner<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s mother, Pamela Warner<\/strong>, seemingly hinted at drama with her daughter-in-law Tenisha Hancock-Warner<\/strong> on the same day as their bombshell legal dispute<\/a> erupted.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring my year long journey, I have discovered how cruel, evil and greedy a human can be,\u201d Pamela wrote via Facebook<\/a> and on the Malcolm Jamal-Warner Living Legacy page via Instagram to mark the first anniversary of her son\u2019s death on Monday, July 20. \u201cI have also discovered the depth of love, care, concern and support that humans are capable of. All of which I have been the recipient of. The good, the bad and the ugly. These are the lessons that apparently I will need as I continue my journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Pamela did not directly specifically or name whom she took issue with in social media posts.)<\/p>\n

Malcolm-Jamal died at age 54<\/a> after drowning off the coast of Lim\u00f3n Province, Costa Rica, on July 20, 2025. He was vacationing on the island with Tenisha and the couple\u2019s 9-year-old daughter when he was caught up in a strong current while swimming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a firm believer that everything has a purpose and a reason. Some of it is Karma, some of it is one\u2019s journey,\u201d Pamela noted on Monday. \u201cI believe there is always a lesson in unpleasant and pleasant experiences. I believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Our lives are tailor made for us specifically. Once size does not fit all. We are all on a journey of discovery, healing and opportunities to be better, improve and transform our spiritual selves. My journey over the past year has been just that, abundantly so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking back on the previous year, Pamela insisted that she had \u201cno regrets\u201d about her relationship with Malcolm-Jamal.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I wanted] perhaps a little more time,\u201d she added. \u201cPerhaps one more chance to cook his favorite meals, have one last good conversation, one last good deep belly laugh, the kind that produces those tears of pure joy, one last kiss, one last hug.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on, \u201cOne of the graces in all of this is that we had had healing conversations a few weeks before. We did not know that these were really good-bye conversations. There was nothing left unsaid between us. There was nothing \u2018left on the table.\u2019 And I believe that is why I have been able to be at peace with Malcolm\u2019s transition. I knew beyond a doubt that he loved me and more importantly trusted me. And he knew that I would love him forever and a day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was my business partner for more than 40 years,\u201d continued Pamela, who was also her late son\u2019s manager. \u201cWe together built the name and the business. He was always the \u201cfront man.\u201d I took care of the business. He was the star\u2026 I was the support system that allowed him to soar unencumbered in the business of \u2018show business.\u2019 We worked very well together. It was a pleasure and an honor to work alongside of Malcolm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pamela shared her gratitude for the outpouring of \u201clove and support\u201d she\u2019d received since losing her son.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou all mean so very much to me. While I may not respond to all of your love and support, just know that I feel and treasure it all,\u201d she wrote. \u201cPlease take care of yourselves and those who you love. Let them know that they are loved. Clear up any beef you may have with your loved ones, if possible. Cleanse your spirit of negativity. We all have an expiration date. Don\u2019t leave or let your loved one leave without them knowing that they are loved and treasured. That knowledge and \u2018clean plate\u2019 has helped me to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, July 21, Us<\/em> obtained a lawsuit filed by Tenisha against her late husband\u2019s estate in Georgia\u2019s DeKalb County Superior Court, in which she opposed her mother-in-law Pamela\u2019s actions as the successor trustee of the Warner Family Trust. (The late Cosby Show<\/em> actor established his family trust in 1996.)<\/p>\n

Among a litany of financial claims, Tenisha insisted that she is owed more than $1.2 million from the trust because that would be equivalent to the sum Malcolm-Jamal allegedly promised her as part of their May 2022 premarital agreement. Per the suit, Malcolm-Jamal was worth around $3.4 million when the prenup was signed.<\/p>\n

In her petition, Tenisha classified herself as a creditor of Malcolm-Jamal \u2019s estate because her late husband apparently did not deliver the money before his death.<\/p>\n

Tenisha accused Malcolm-Jamal\u2019s estate of being unrepresented and, thus, \u201cinadequate to satisfy\u201d the debt that she is allegedly owed.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMalcolm-Jamal Warner\u2019s widow, Tenisha Warner, has revealed her identity and addressed his tragic death earlier this year.\u00a0 Tenisha took to Instagram on Friday, September 12, to share a joyful photo of her 2017 wedding to Malcolm-Jamal, who died in July after drowning while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica. Her late husband was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[Tenisha] performed all obligations required of her under the agreement, including entering into and remaining in the marriage until the decedent\u2019s death,\u201d her lawsuit read. \u201cThe decedent died without having satisfied his obligations under the agreement, and no person or entity has paid or provided the sums due to [her] under the agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tenisha asked the DeKalb County Superior Court to block Pamela from distributing trust property until the dispute is settled.<\/p>\n

Tenisha is set to open up about her relationship with Pamela<\/a> during an interview with Gayle King<\/strong> on Thursday, July 23. A teaser clip featured Tenisha discussing how the Warner family was coping with Malcolm-Jamal\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, everybody \u2014 like, all of his family members and [those] who have lost him \u2014 they are grieving,\u201d Tenisha said. \u201cYou know, it\u2019s been the biggest loss for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked specifically about where she stood with Pamela, Tenisha cryptically replied, \u201cYou know\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
