But as Melanie revealed in an in-depth interview, the fight was not without its frightening moments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was having a moment and was hysterical,\u201d Melanie recalls of the days when she was receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer. \u201cI called you and said, \u2018I think I\u2019m dying.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe gave me, what I think of ever since I was a little girl, a \u2018daddy bear hug,\u2019\u201d she adds. \u201cHe said, \u2018This is going to be a blip in your life. If you came in later, you would have been dead.\u2019 See? That\u2019s my life,\u201d William recalls. \u201cI think the universe is taking care of me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>William adds that he and Melanie leaned on one another throughout their shared battle, and the rest of the Shatners cheered them on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re a very together family,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re bonded by all kinds of difficulties that we\u2019ve overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>William went on to say that the experience has left him with a greater appreciation for the small pleasures in life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thinking of the miracle of a hummingbird, and of my dog taking a ball, and my children,\u201d he said, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m aware of the magic of it all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s hoping William and Melanie will be able to enjoy many more happy years together,<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/07\/william-shatner-and-daughter-both-reveal-stage-4-cancer-diagnoses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reading Time: 2 minutes At 95, William Shatner is nothing less than a living legend in the world of television.
