It even dropped \u201cNews\u201d from the name of the Facebook Feed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/2\/15\/22935080\/facebook-meta-news-feed-renaming-branding-political-content-misinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last year<\/a>. The company also responded to a new Canadian law that would require it to pay for local news by saying it will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/6\/22\/23770620\/meta-news-facebook-instagram-canada-online-news-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yank news<\/a> from Facebook and Instagram in the country. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote class=\"duet--article--blockquote ewrhy30\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup ewrhy37 _1xwtict0\">The goal isn\u2019t to replace Twitter. The goal is to create a public square for communities on Instagram that never really embraced Twitter and for communities on Twitter (and other platforms) that are interested in a less angry place for conversations, but not all of Twitter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Still, it seems inevitable that politics and news will trickle onto Threads in some way, especially if politicians and journalists use the platform during the 2024 presidential election cycle. And Instagram is working on a feed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/7\/6\/23785493\/threads-home-feed-following-algorithmic-recommendations-adam-mosseri\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just for people you follow<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mosseri\/status\/1677325470759632896?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a chronological feed<\/a>, which, at least for me, should make Threads a much more useful place to find news.
