With IMAX showtimes of The Odyssey<\/em><\/strong> sold out for the next few weeks, moviegoers will probably be wondering what will be released next in those theaters. <\/p>\n

Most IMAX theaters are selling tickets for The Odyssey<\/em> through August 12 as the screens are reserved for the upcoming movie The End of Oak Street <\/em>beginning on August 14, with preview showings happening on August 13. <\/p>\n

Movie studios have already reserved IMAX screens for movies being released throughout the remainder of 2026 and beyond. So, what’s coming next?<\/p>\n

The End of Oak Street – August 14<\/h3>\n

When The Odyssey<\/em> leaves IMAX theaters, it will be replaced by another Anne Hathaway<\/strong><\/a> movie: The End of Oak Street<\/em>. The movie was filmed for IMAX and will get a two-week run in those theaters. <\/p>\n

After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, a family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Dog Stars – August 28<\/h3>\n

Jacob Elordi<\/strong><\/a>‘s upcoming post-apocalypse movie The Dog Stars<\/em> will be released on IMAX screens on August 28. <\/p>\n

The film tells the story of Hig (Elordi<\/strong>), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin<\/strong><\/a>), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The movie wasn’t filmed exclusively for IMAX and there are three weeks until the next movie, so it’s likely that there will be screenings of The Odyssey<\/em> added during this time period. <\/p>\n

Weapons<\/em> director Zach Cregger<\/strong><\/a> is taking over the Resident Evil<\/em> franchise with this new reboot. <\/p>\n

Because The Hunger Games<\/em> is being released just days earlier, it looks like they will be sharing screens during that period. <\/p>\n

Cliff Booth<\/em> is getting a two-week engagement in IMAX theaters ahead of its streaming release on December 23.<\/p>\n

Dune: Part Three – December 18<\/h3>\n

Dune: Part Three<\/em> is the next movie that will achieve similar demand to The Odyssey<\/em>. <\/p>\n

This movie will be released in IMAX 70mm, a format that is only available in 25 movie theaters in the United States. <\/p>\n

You can expect Dune 3<\/em> to be on IMAX screens for about a month, just like The Odyssey<\/em>. <\/p>\n
