Mitch McConnell (R-KY) speaks to reporters at the Capitol Building on June 30, 2025.<span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo Credit: Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>PHTOO ONE<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, July 12, McConnell\u2019s office released an image, allegedly both authentic and recent, featuring the Kentucky Senator.<\/p>\n<p>The photo shows the 84-year-old Republican on a hospital bed beside his wife, Elaine Chao.<\/p>\n<p>Conspicuously, the only real detail in the photo is the sports section of the Sunday edition of the Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>Though the text is conspicuously blurry, the photo does appear to match the real thing. (It could be a fake image, like multiple previous \u201cphotos\u201d of the Senator following his hospitalization were proven to be, though those were crucially not from his office.)<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the photo, McConnell\u2019s office released a statement, allegedly from McConnell himself.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bluesky-embed\" data-bluesky-uri=\"at:\/\/did:plc:aj3cdjcejjrldwr7qdidj2z6\/app.bsky.feed.post\/3mqjo4ypgs223\" data-bluesky-cid=\"bafyreigfqlr32kqudmwpu5enpohvwae7qvxhz7y54msmq2grhldsutcy7i\" data-bluesky-embed-color-mode=\"dark\">\n<p lang=\"en\">www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/con\u2026<br \/>\nMitch McConnell said in his first public statement since he was hospitalized nearly a month ago that he was \u201cbriefly unconscious\u201d after he suffered a fall.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement, accompanied by a photo of McConnell smiling in a hospital chair alongside his wife.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:aj3cdjcejjrldwr7qdidj2z6\/post\/3mqjo4ypgs223?ref_src=embed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[image or embed]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Deborah Lynn (<a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:aj3cdjcejjrldwr7qdidj2z6?ref_src=embed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@mrsdeborahlynn.bsky.social<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/did:plc:aj3cdjcejjrldwr7qdidj2z6\/post\/3mqjo4ypgs223?ref_src=embed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 13, 2026 at 8:13 AM<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>McConnell, who vanished from the public eye on June 14 after being hauled away in an ambulance via stretcher, <\/p>\n<p>In the lengthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcconnell.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/pressreleases?ID=EB724698-4D2F-4E6E-9D3A-163943986C85\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>, ostensibly from McConnell, it is clarified that he did not suffer \u201ca heart attack or stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather, the statement claims that he was taken to the hospital after a fall and was \u201cbriefly unconscious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This statement came out 28 days after his hospitalization. That\u2019s four weeks to the day, and a full lunar month.<\/p>\n<p>The words attributed to McConnell claimed that the Senator had \u201chad to deal with a mild case of pneumonia\u201d but has been moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BREAKING SILENCE: Mitch McConnell addresses hospitalization\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D3y_eef25sQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>PHOTO THREE<\/p>\n<p>It is easy to look at those doubting the authenticity of this statement on McConnell and say that this is political opportunism.<\/p>\n<p>After all, if McConnell is proven to have died before August 3, Kentucky can hold a special election to fill his Senate seat.<\/p>\n<p>However, many of the loudest voices expressing doubts about the veracity of McConnell being alive and well aren\u2019t coming from the Left.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, conspiracy theorist and Trump-supporter Laura Loomer and numerous other Republicans, some in office and others with Fox News credentials, aren\u2019t buying it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow come Mitch McConnell\u2019s staff won\u2019t release a video of him?\u201d Loomer <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LauraLoomer\/status\/2076422917684867278\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cA photo could have been taken at any time. I call BS. There are few polite words that accurately describe her.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are reasons to question this statement and photo.<\/p>\n<p>Why does McConnell look so healthy after pneumonia compared to a few months ago? Why didn\u2019t he record even a short video to reassure his constituents in Kentucky?<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been leery of definitively stating that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2026\/07\/lisa-rinna-mitch-mcconnell-weekend-at-bernies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">McConnell is getting the <em>Weekend at Bernie<\/em>\u2018s treatment<\/a>. Tortoises can live for a very long time, after all.<\/p>\n<p>For now, he could very well be just as alive as he claims. That said, he and his office don\u2019t seem to be very good at proving it.
