Moana<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/strong> star Catherine Laga’aia<\/strong><\/a> is sharing the advice given to her by her father, who happens to be an actor himself.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, the 19-year-old up-and-coming star approached the “nepo baby” label head on.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m completely aware that I\u2019m a nepo baby,” Catherine<\/strong> said with a laugh. “I know that, so you can\u2019t call me out on it because I already know it.”<\/p>\n

Who is Catherine Laga’aia’s dad?<\/h3>\n

Her father is Jay Laga’aia<\/strong>, best known for playing Captain Typho in the Star Wars<\/em> prequel movies.<\/p>\n

Catherine<\/strong> shared one of the “biggest pieces of advice” he’s given her as she starts to progress in Hollywood. <\/p>\n

“One of my dad\u2019s biggest pieces of advice is that your job is the audition,” she shared. “Your job is not the job. You don\u2019t have that yet. So your job is whatever sides they gave you and whatever song they want you to sing. So that mentality of coming in and being like, ‘I\u2019m going to give this every ounce of effort that I\u2019ve got, I\u2019m going to give this every piece of myself to try and put the best foot forward,’ essentially.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Moana <\/em>released in theaters on July 10, 2026. <\/p>\n
