Charlie Sheen has agreed to pay his former wife Brooke Mueller $500,000 in back child support<\/p>\n
The actor, 60, is making the move after the former couple reached a settlement in their long-running legal dispute over payments for their twin sons.<\/p>\n
Charlie was ordered by a judge to pay Brooke, 48, the agreed sum after she returned to court in December claiming the Two and a Half Men actor had failed to pay the full amount of child support owed for their sons, Max and Bob, 17. <\/p>\n
Actress Brooke had originally sought $15 million in the proceedings. <\/p>\n
\t\t\t<\/p>\n
According to the judgment obtained by The U.S. Sun, Charlie argued there had been periods when the twins lived in his care and that he should receive credit for those times. <\/p>\n
\nThe ruling comes as Charlie continues to focus on family life after revealing he has remained sober since 2017, while he has recently reunited professionally with Spin City creator Chuck Lorre for the HBO Max comedy How to Be a Bookie, marking the pair\u2019s first collaboration since Charlie\u2019s departure from Two and a Half Men.<\/p>\n
\nCourt documents stated: \u201cThe parties acknowledge that they have exchanged and reviewed their positions and calculations concerning the claimed arrearages, credits, and interest.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe judge then approved the agreement reached between the former couple, ordering Charlie to pay Brooke a total of 500,000 dollars in two instalments.<\/p>\n
\nUnder the order, Charlie must pay the first half by Friday, 10 July, with the remaining balance due on or before 1 September. He was also ordered to pay $60,000 towards Brooke\u2019s legal fees.<\/p>\n
\nThe former couple continue to share physical custody of Max and Bob, although court filings previously reviewed by People state the twins\u2019 primary residence is with Charlie. <\/p>\n
\nThe filings also state the arrangement can change within 48 hours if Brooke fails a drug test.<\/p>\n
\nBrooke has spoken publicly over the years about her struggles with addiction and the periods she has spent in rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
\nCharlie told People in 2023 that raising his sons had become his main priority.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI\u2019ve mostly been raising my 14-year-old boys.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actor added: \u201cTheir mom has been trying to figure some stuff out on her end, so she\u2019s not in the picture too much right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCharlie continued: \u201cThey\u2019re really cool, really smart, and really funny.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCharlie and Brooke were married between 2008 and 2011. <\/p>\n
\nThe Platoon star also shares daughters Sami Sheen and Lola Sheen with his former wife Denise Richards, whose family has recently returned to television with the reality series Denise Richards and Her Wild Things. <\/p>\n
\nCharlie is also father to Cassandra Jade Estevez from his previous relationship with Paula Speert.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor remains best known for starring in Two and a Half Men, Spin City, Platoon, Wall Street, Hot Shots! and Anger Management. <\/p>\n
\nBrooke\u2019s legal application alleged while child support payments were initially made in full at $55,000 a month in 2010, the payments became partial from 2011 onwards and, on some occasions, were not made at all, according to The U.S. Sun.<\/p>\n
