Virgin River<\/em><\/a>\u2018s future on Netflix has been called into question but is the show actually ending?<\/p>\n

Netflix\u2019s Head of UCAN Scripted Series Jinny Howe<\/strong> was asked about the show\u2019s future, to which she told Deadline<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, July 8, \u201cAll I\u2019m going to say is the fans of this show are going to continue to get what they want as long as they want, and we are being very thoughtful about how to make sure we are both serving but protecting the fandom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Concern about Virgin River<\/em>\u00a0came after it<\/a> became the longest-running original scripted show on Netflix, which is currently filming season 8.<\/p>\n

Based on Robyn Carr<\/strong>\u2019s book series, Virgin River<\/em> follows the lives of residents living in a small town in Northern California, including Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge<\/strong>) and Jack (Martin Henderson<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

After seven seasons, there have been some major departures<\/a> from the Netflix show. Grayson Gurnsey<\/strong> left as Ricky after season 4, and Mark Ghanim\u00e9<\/strong>, who played Cameron, had a surprising exit once season 6 was released.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this season saw a little bit of a sendoff for Cameron,\u201d showrunner Patrick Sean Smith exclusively told Us Weekly in December 2024. \u201cIn terms of Mark, the actor who I adore, he unfortunately won\u2019t be coming back for season 7.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith didn\u2019t rule out a potential return for the character in the future. \u201cBut that\u2019s not to say that Cameron\u2019s not a part of our world forever,\u201d he added. \u201cI would love to bring him back, and bring his character back when the story presents itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

In March, Virgin River returned for season 7,<\/a> and it was later confirmed that Marco Grazzini<\/strong> will not reprise his role as Mike.<\/p>\n
