Disney completely surprised millennials on Wednesday, July 8, when the network announced a brand-new music-driven film called The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen<\/i>.<\/p>\n

A new cast of talented young actresses, including Leah Sava\u2019 Jeffries<\/strong>, Carmen Sanchez<\/strong>, Kaileen Chang<\/strong> and Sophie Lennon<\/strong>, are expected to star in the upcoming movie.<\/p>\n

But wait, there\u2019s more! Symon\u00e9 \u2014 who serves as an executive producer on the project \u2014 will reprise her role as Galleria alongside Bailon-Houghton, who is returning as Chanel.<\/p>\n

Lynn Whitfield<\/strong> and Lori Alter<\/strong> are also set to play Dorothea and Juanita once again, while Sabrina Bryan<\/strong> will make a special appearance as Dorinda, Disney confirmed. To top it all off, Sophia Bush<\/strong> will also appear in a supporting role as Jennifr\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Symon\u00e9, 40) and Chanel (Bailon-Houghton, 42), alongside Galleria\u2019s daughter Faith (Jeffries, 16) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary,\u201d Disney said in a press release. \u201cAlong the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cheetah Girls<\/i> is one of the most popular Disney Channel Original Movie franchises. When it premiered in 2003, The Cheetah Girls<\/i> was the No. 1 highest-rated movie on broadcast or cable.<\/p>\n

The franchise also launched tours and massive hits, including \u201cCheetah Sisters,\u201d \u201cThe Party\u2019s Just Begun\u201d and \u201cCinderella.\u201d<\/p>\n
