Former Bachelor<\/em><\/a> and Bachelorette<\/em><\/a> producer Julie LaPlaca<\/strong> claims in her new book, The Love Producer<\/em><\/a>, that she was once considered as a possible season lead.<\/p>\n

In her debut memoir, available Tuesday, July 7, Julie, 41, recalls receiving a phone call from Bachelor<\/em> creator Mike Fleiss<\/strong> after filming wrapped on Peter Weber<\/strong>\u2019s 2020 season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe arranged to have a secret meeting when I returned to L.A., because my immediate bosses, according to [Mike], were against the idea and didn\u2019t think it would work,\u201d she writes. \u201cBut he was the boss of the bosses and loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After telling her family about the potential opportunity, Julie rushed to tell Peter, who told her they \u201ctotally manifested this.\u201d (Julie claims Peter was \u201ccampaigning\u201d for her to be the star of her own journey to find love while working together on his season.)<\/p>\n

Despite her excitement over the possible offer, Julie also felt \u201ca bit of sadness\u201d over Peter\u2019s excitement in the midst of her budding feelings for the former Bachelor.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, I had already started writing the hypothetical love story in my head of Peter and me jetting off into the sunset together,\u201d she writes. \u201cBecoming the Bachelorette would mean this scenario couldn\u2019t happen. So, I began the day dreaming about another version \u2026 Peter showing up mid-season to profess his love and join the cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the offer didn\u2019t pan out and Clare Crawley<\/strong> was chosen<\/a> to lead season 16 of The Bachelorette<\/em> instead. (Tayshia Adams<\/strong> famously took over the role when Clare, now 45, got engaged to Dale Moss<\/strong> in the fourth episode.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t hold back the tears,\u201d Julie writes of being denied the opportunity.<\/p>\n

As Julie remembers it, execs concluded that the audience wouldn\u2019t \u201cbelieve a producer\u2019s love story\u201d because she knew \u201ctoo much of the behind-the-scenes of the show to make it feel authentic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I do a pretty good job of being in what I\u2019m in, right?\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cSo I do think if that opportunity had presented itself, I would have fully, like, surrendered to the process and just allowed for everything to come my way, and trust that it was coming for a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n
