Actress Drena De Niro, 55, announced online on Sunday (02.07.23) her boy Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, 19, had died, and has now described holding him for the last time when she visited his body. <\/p>\n
Alongside a black-and-white photo of the rising acting star looking to the sky and laughing that she posted on Instagram she said the \u201csame man\u201d who picked her up from the hospital when he was born also drove them to the funeral home \u201cwhere I touched and held you for the last time\u201d. <\/p>\n
Drena \u2013 the eldest of \u2018Raging Bull\u2019 actor Robert\u2019s seven children \u2013 added about her grief: \u201cNone of this is right or fair and my heart hurts in a way I never knew possible while still breathing and barely functioning. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou were kindness acceptance and love and I can\u2019t believe any of this is real YOU made everything bearable and every burden lighter.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDrena has not shared Leandro\u2019s cause of death and added her late son \u201cdidn\u2019t deserve to die like this\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nShe also said she was trying to find comfort in believing \u201cGod needed a strong powerful angel in their army\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nDrena added: \u201cI\u2019m holding you every second of every moment in my heart and memories until I\u2019m with you again. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cMy heart is broken forever. Me daddy and your family love you, I love I love you with every beat of my crying heart.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nLeandro\u2019s graffiti artist dad Carlos \u2018Mare\u2019 Rodriguez initially posted a black square to his Instagram page when news broke of his boy\u2019s death. <\/p>\n
\nBut he went on to comment on Drena\u2019s post announcing his son had passed away \u2013 around the same time paparazzi photographed him weeping outside the actress\u2019 home in Manhattan. <\/p>\n
\nCarlos said on Instagram: \u201cWords aren\u2019t enough to express the joy he gave us or the loss we now endure with our families and friends. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe is God\u2019s child now. On this full moon his spirit luminates what could not be seen in the dark. You can\u2019t spell LOVE without LEO.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\u2018Heat\u2019 star Robert, 79, said in a statement on Monday via his representative he is \u201cdeeply distressed\u201d over the passing of his \u201cbeloved grandson\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nIt added: \u201cWe\u2019re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Heat\u2019 star also asked for \u201cprivacy to grieve\u201d the \u201closs of Leo\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nThe teen was found lifeless at a $950,000, one-bedroom apartment in the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street. <\/p>\n
\nTMZ has reported his death is being investigated as a possible drugs overdose, while the Daily Mail said he was found sitting on a chair with a white powdery substance on a plate near his body.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
