Elle<\/em><\/a> was renewed before it even premiered \u2014 but not everyone is coming back in season 2.<\/a><\/p>\n

Based on Amanda Brown<\/strong>\u2018s novel, the 2001 movie Legally Blonde<\/em> introduced Us<\/em><\/a> to Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon<\/strong>), a sorority girl who attempted to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner (Matthew Davis<\/strong>) by getting a degree at Harvard Law School. Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Victor Garber<\/strong> and Jennifer Coolidge<\/strong> rounded out the cast, with a second movie following two years later.<\/p>\n

With Lexi Minetree<\/strong> taking on the role as teen Elle<\/em>,<\/a> the series stars June Diane Raphael <\/strong>and Tom Everett Scott<\/strong> as Elle\u2019s parents. Chandler Kinney, Gabrielle Policano<\/strong> and Jacob Moskovitz<\/strong> were also announced as series regulars alongside Zac Looker, Amy Pietz<\/strong> and more. (James Van Der Beek<\/strong> also joined the cast for what would become his final TV role before his death. He died in February 2026 at the age of 48.)<\/p>\n

Before season 1 premiered, the cast hinted to Us Weekly<\/em> who would be returning \u2014 and who might not.<\/p>\n

Released in 2001, Legally Blonde follows Reese Witherspoon\u2018s Elle Woods, a sorority girl who is dumped by her boyfriend who thinks he\u2019s too good for her. In an effort to prove him wrong and win him back, she hits the books and is accepted [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMost faces you\u2019ll see in season 2,\u201d showrunner Caroline Dries<\/strong> exclusively teased.<\/p>\n

Jessica Belkin<\/strong>, who plays Elle\u2019s Los Angeles friend Madison, hinted that she would still be on the show despite pulling double duty with Fox\u2019s Baywatch<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely am back in season 2. There\u2019s more to Madison\u2019s story,\u201d she teased. \u201cWe just wrapped and before we got back into it, the entire cast had a little movie watch binge night together and we watched the full season together, which was super special.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI had a quick reminder of like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s Madison. She\u2019s spunky. She\u2019s feisty. She gives the best advice.\u2019 I hope that everyone loves Madison in season 1 because she\u2019ll be back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danielle Chand<\/strong>, meanwhile, isn\u2019t expected to reprise<\/a> her role as Shannon \u2014 yet. While speaking with Us<\/em>, Chand didn\u2019t rule out a potential return after Shannon left Seattle at the end of season 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve made story lines in my head [of how she can return],\u201d Chand added. \u201cMy hope for Shannon is that she is just hanging out with all of our friends. If there\u2019s a graduation or like something that involves Kimberly, I would love Shannon just to keep popping in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liz\u2019s story is still front and center when Elle returns.<\/p>\n
