Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> was obviously inspired by Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> while making her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The pop superstar released her new record on October 3, 2025, and it didn\u2019t take long for fans to find references to the NFL player.<\/p>\n

The album opens with \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia,\u201d a poppy song about Kelce revealing on his \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast in July 2023 that he had tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Eras Tour<\/em>\u00a0shortly before their romance began.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard you calling \/ On the megaphone \/ You wanna see me all alone,\u201d she sings in a nod to him publicly shooting his shot.<\/p>\n

Later in the same track, Swift seemingly references Kelce\u2019s Kansas City Chiefs with the lyric, \u201cI pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grammy winner also appears to gush over the athlete in \u201cElizabeth Taylor\u201d (\u201cAll the right guys promised they\u2019d stay \/ Under bright lights, they withered away \/ But you bloom\u201d) and \u201cHoney\u201d (\u201cWhen anyone called me \u2018lovely\u2019 \/ They were finding ways not to praise me \/ But you say it like you\u2019re in awe of me \/ And you stay until the morning, honey\u201d).<\/p>\n

However, the most clear reference to Kelce occurs in \u201cWood\u201d when Swift shouts out his podcast by singing, \u201cNew heights of manhood.\u201d She also sweetly looks ahead to their future together in the \u201cWish List\u201d chorus: \u201cI just want you \/ Have a couple kids \/ Got the whole block looking like you \/ We tell the world to leave us the f*** alone and they do, wow \/ Got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop \/ Boss up, settle down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift and Kelce have been together since the summer of 2023. Nearly one year into their relationship, she dropped her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department<\/em>, in April 2024, with two songs believed to be about Kelce<\/a>. \u201cThe Alchemy\u201d made several nods to his NFL career with a slew of football references, while \u201cSo High School\u201d included more allusions to their romance, such as how he holds the car door for her and mentioned her in a \u201cmarry, kiss or kill\u201d game in a resurfaced interview.<\/p>\n

Swift and Kelce announced in August 2025 that they are engaged. \u201cYour English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,\u201d the pair captioned a joint Instagram post, nodding to both Swift\u2019s prolific songwriting [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For weeks, Swift has been hinting that her 12th album would be heavily influenced by her relationship with Kelce.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, so that effervescence has come through on this record,\u201d she revealed on \u201cNew Heights\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in August. \u201cThis album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift added that The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> draws from \u201ceverything that was going on behind the curtain\u201d in her personal life during The Eras Tour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis album isn\u2019t really about what happened to me on stage. It\u2019s about what I was going through off stage,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s the life beyond the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Swift, she \u201cwanted the album to feel the way my life felt, and this completely matches the way that my life has felt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kelce was clearly an early fan of the album.<\/p>\n

In response, Swift gushed, \u201cLife is more upbeat,\u201d seemingly referring to her relationship with Kelce.<\/p>\n

Later that month, Kelce told \u201cNew Heights\u201d listeners that his favorite song<\/a> from The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> is \u201cOpalite,\u201d sharing, \u201cEvery time it comes on, I always catch myself [dancing].\u201d<\/p>\n
