\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n A third animated Moana<\/strong><\/a><\/em> movie is reportedly in the works!<\/p>\n Star and executive producer Dwayne Johnson<\/strong><\/a>, who plays demigod Maui in every movie, revealed the news this week while promoting the upcoming live-action adaptation. <\/p>\n \u201cYes, we have talked about Moana 3<\/em>, yes,\u201d he said at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, via Variety<\/a><\/em>. \u201cBut first, live-action Moana<\/em>, we\u2019ll let that come out first. We have [the] amazing Jared Bush<\/strong> and Dana Ledoux Miller<\/strong>, who have been our writers \u2026 they will pen Moana 3<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Jared Bush<\/strong> has written every Moana<\/em> movie so far, and Dana<\/strong> joined him on the second film and the live-action adaptation. He has also written other hit Disney movies like Zootopia<\/em> 1 and 2, as well as Encanto<\/em>!<\/p>\n The first Moana <\/em>film came out in 2016 and earned $680 million at the global box office. Moana 2<\/em> was released in 2024, and after setting a record of $225 million for a Thanksgiving weekend box office, became a four-quadrant hit with $1.059 billion in worldwide sales!<\/p>\n The live-action adaptation is set to hit theaters NEXT Friday, July 10th. <\/p>\n Dwayne Johnson<\/strong> reprises his role as Maui, with Catherine Laga\u2019aia<\/strong><\/a> taking on the titular character of Moana.
