She had been on medication that managed her condition and prevented episodes for over a decade.<\/p>\n In 2020, after two breakthrough seizures, Jordana<\/strong> opted for craniotomy, which she was awake for.<\/p>\n \u201cThey shaved this part,\u201d Jordana<\/strong> recalled on the June 30 episode of\u00a0She MD<\/em><\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cThey opened my skull and I was on my side and there was someone in front of me showing me cards and sort of testing my language and two brilliant neurosurgeons behind me.\u201d<\/p>\n Jordana<\/strong> went on to share that being awake for the brain surgery helped ensure that the doctors were proceeding safely.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I couldn\u2019t come up with a word association or if I couldn\u2019t answer a question, they knew, \u2018Okay, we\u2019ve hit a part of the brain we shouldn\u2019t hit and let\u2019s stay away from there,’\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n She did, however, admit that she during the surgery she felt aphasia, which is a neurological disorder that impairs a person\u2019s ability to speak, write, and understand both spoken and written language (per the NIDCD<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u201cYou think it, you know the answer, but you\u2019re not able to say it, which is a really weird feeling,\u201d the Lethal Weapon<\/em> actress explained. \u201cAnd it also made me question, \u2018Wait, what about patients that are in a coma or what about patients that can\u2019t articulate what they want to say but it\u2019s there, which is really frustrating?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Ever since undergoing the surgery, Jordana <\/strong>has been seizure-free for six years.<\/p>\n \u201cI kind of overhauled my life in 2020 and I think that helped also to give me the bravery to do something about the CVM,\u201d Jordana<\/strong> concluded. \u201cI got a divorce<\/a>. I found the love of my life<\/a>.
