The 41-year-old star’s project, inspired by her experience of being a mom to daughters Jupiter, five, and Emerson, 20 months, is in development at Netflix, with actresses-and-comediennes Ali Wong, 44, and Sabrina Jalees, 41, attached to the show, according to Deadline.<\/p>\n
Toxic Moms, penned by Sabrina, is described as a 30-minute comedy about a mom who meets a rich group of moms. <\/p>\n
But when their dark side begins to be revealed, the show will test how far the main character will go to experience community.<\/p>\n

Deadline also reports that High School Musical alum Ashley – who has Jupiter and Emerson with her 44-year-old husband, composer Christopher French – Mating Season’s Sabrina, and Beef cast member Ali will executive-produce Toxic Moms, with the latter directing if it goes to a series.<\/p>\n
\nOn Thursday (02.07.26), Ashley took to Instagram and posted a screenshot of Deadline’s article about Toxic Moms, with the caption: “I guess we all can be a little toxic.”<\/p>\n
\nToxic Moms comes six months after Ashley called out “mean-girl behaviour” from her “toxic mom group” in an essay for The Cut, which sparked speculation that she was referring to actress Hilary Duff, 38, and singers Mandy Moore, 42, and 32-year-old Meghan Trainor.<\/p>\n
\nAshley’s representative had shut down speculation that the Scary Movie 1 actress had been talking about Hilary and their famous pals, telling TMZ it is “unfortunate” that Ashley’s words had been “twisted” and there was “zero truth” to suggestions other celebrities were involved.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer first opened up about her experiences with the mom group in a post on her blog in which she declared: “Here\u2019s the thing nobody prepared me for: Mom groups can turn toxic. <\/p>\n
\n“Not because the moms themselves are toxic people, but because the dynamic shifts into an ugly place with mean-girl behaviour. I know this from personal experience.”<\/p>\n
\nAshley explained there were group text chains that “didn’t include everyone” and there were “hangouts” she didn’t get invited to.<\/p>\n
\nIn her essay for The Cut, she went on to open up about how she started to feel “excluded”, writing: “I was certain that I\u2019d found my village.<\/p>\n
\n“But over time, I began to wonder whether that was really true. I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story. <\/p>\n
\n“Another time, at one of the mom\u2019s dinner parties, I realised where I sat with her – which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women. I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me.”<\/p>\n
\nThe blonde beauty addressed speculation about her original blog post in the essay, calling out “online sleuths” for attempting to figure out the identities of the women involved.<\/p>\n
\nShe wrote: “It\u2019s one [topic] that has also made wannabe online sleuths try to do some investigating like they\u2019re on CSI (please, don\u2019t even try – whatever you think is true isn\u2019t even close).”<\/p>\n
