Anastacia<\/a> has declared \u201ccancer gave the wrong girl cancer\u201d while opening up about her battle against the disease.<\/p>\n

Anastacia talks cancer battle<\/p>\n

The 57-year-old underwent a double mastectomy in 2013 after being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. <\/p>\n

In an interview on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast, the I\u2019m Outta Love star said: \u201cCancer gave the wrong girl cancer!\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that she also discovered the cancer by accident, after going into hospital for a breast reduction.<\/p>\n

Anastacia<\/a> said: \u201cWhen I found out I had cancer it was not in the typical way. I went in for a breast reduction, then I found out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHowever, after finding out she had a long battle ahead of her, Anastacia said that she decided to use humour to help her deal with the diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\nShe admitted: \u201cI can always deliver anger with humour. I call my t******, \u2018toxic t******,\u2019, you know? They’re my ta-tas. It’s a good way to try and make something negative positive.”<\/p>\n

\nElsewhere in the interview, Anastacia revealed how she came about her iconic tinted glasses, after deciding to get the colour in her glasses in a bid to deflect unwanted attention from the opposite sex.<\/p>\n

\nShe explained: \u201cI decided to put a tint in my glasses primarily because when I wore glasses and they were uniquely shaped, they didn’t have a tint, and guys, more than I want to care for would always call me a sexy librarian.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nShe also said that she experienced a lot of rejection when she started out in the music industry – mainly because people didn\u2019t know what category to put her in. <\/p>\n

\nAnastacia added: \u201cI didn\u2019t fit in to any of what was happening in music then. Celine [Dion], Mariah [Carey], Janet [Jackson]. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI was definitely not in the sexy category of being that. I didn\u2019t fit that mould and also I didn\u2019t sound the mold. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cWhen I wrote Not That Kind to me that was normal. But when I played that for people they were like, \u2018Well what genre is this? What are you? Where would you fit?\u2019 <\/p>\n

\n\u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my God, I didn\u2019t know I had to figure that out to be a singer. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI didn\u2019t know it had to be this \u2018business\u2019 and I didn\u2019t have that sense. I just had an artist sense.\u201d<\/p>\n
