Even if it isn\u2019t helpful.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FBI determines Nancy Guthrie kidnapping notes to be fakes source\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VKEHDLzHh2g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Nancy was kidnapped from her home on February 1 in a violent attack, resulting in a small amount of her blood being left at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the letters sent to media outlets \u2014 which were all apparent forgeries \u2014 arrived early into the case, but remained under wraps for months<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/07\/01\/fbi-determines-ransom-notes-in-nancy-guthrie-kidnapping-are-bogus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TMZ<\/a><\/em>, notably, received another in June.<\/p>\n<p>The tabloid reports that they have received nearly a dozen emails from a man claiming to know both the kidnapper\u2019s identity and the location of Nancy while not being part of the crime.<\/p>\n<p>This unnamed man promised to share this info for 1 bitcoin \u2014 at present, about enough to buy a new car. While email is not untraceable, an individual might allegedly hope to disappear with a modest amount of cryptocurrency and start anew.<\/p>\n<p>Others are seeking attention. The thrill of being \u201cinvolved\u201d in a case can cloud someone\u2019s judgment, just like becoming overly engaged in a social media thread might lead someone to make prosecutable threats.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, some people might feel that they are genuinely helping. Even if we don\u2019t know where to find Nancy\u2019s remains, many wish that they could give Savannah and her family closure.<\/p>\n<p>But fake closure doesn\u2019t do anything. Fake closure reopens a wound. Having it disproven reopens it again.<\/p>\n<p>Savannah and her entire family deserve better.
