\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Taylor Sheridan<\/strong><\/a> did not hold back when expressing his feelings about criticism toward his shows and the Emmy Awards.<\/p>\n The 56-year-old showrunner behind hit shows like Landman<\/em> and The Madison<\/em> spoke about his goals during the Sunday (June 28) episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Despite both of his newer shows being on the Emmys ballot this year, Taylor<\/strong> says he\u2019s \u201cnot trying to win Emmys.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not going to win no Emmys with me, but I\u2019m not trying to win Emmys,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not my goal. My goal is to sit somebody on their couch and move them, make them think, make them laugh, scare the s\u2013t out of them, excite them. That\u2019s what I want to do, because that\u2019s what I want from a show.\u201d<\/p>\n He said when he started writing, his goal was to \u201csimply not do what everyone else was doing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhat everyone else was doing was taking shortcuts, essentially breaking all the very basic fundamental rules of storytelling, because they couldn\u2019t figure out their story,\u201d the Yellowstone<\/em> creator shared, adding that he feels studio execs know \u201cnothing\u201d about telling good stories.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, what do you know about developing story? You know nothing,\u201d Taylor<\/strong> said. \u201cSo they get terrified, panicked that the audience won\u2019t get it because they actually have no storytellers.\u201d<\/p>\n He also said these execs are now governing Hollywood and \u201cthey\u2019re the ones that are going to determine whether or not your script is going to go into production,\u201d meaning \u201cthey\u2019re going to try to control every element of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Even when he signed his overall deal with Paramount, Taylor<\/strong> said he didn\u2019t want to follow their playbook.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not a democracy. There\u2019s no committee. You\u2019re going to pay me, and you\u2019re going to give me a bunch of money, and I\u2019m going to deliver you these shows,\u201d he told the podcast host.<\/p>\n Taylor<\/strong> also revealed his real feelings about critics, adding that he knew they wouldn\u2019t like the fact Demi Moore<\/strong><\/a> had a relatively small role in Landman<\/em>\u2018s debut season.<\/p>\n \u201cThe critics are going to come after me. I\u2019m underutilizing [Moore<\/strong>], can\u2019t write for women, all this nonsense.
