\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Luigi Mangione<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s federal trial starts next year.<\/p>\n The 28-year-old, who is currently in prison awaiting his state and federal trials, went to court on Monday (June 29), where he learned his federal trial will begin in January of 2027.<\/p>\n Judge Garnett<\/strong>\u00a0informed the court that the trial will not start in November as initially scheduled, \u201cgiven jury selection,\u201d via TMZ.<\/strong><\/p>\n The federal case won\u2019t kick off until the beginning of next year, with jury selection starting on January 5. During the process, about 40 to 50 people will be called in until they complete the jury. Opening statements are scheduled to start on January 25.<\/p>\n Luigi <\/strong>faces multiple federal charges in connection with the December 2024 shooting and murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson<\/strong>. Prosecutors originally sought the death penalty, but a federal judge dismissed the capital counts.
