Full House<\/em><\/a> alum Jodie Sweetin<\/strong><\/a> is sharing details of filming the show\u2019s pilot with a different actor in the role of Danny Tanner.<\/p>\n Actor John Posey<\/strong>, 70, played the Tanner patriarch in the original unaired pilot. However, according to Sweetin, Bob Saget<\/strong><\/a> was always creator Jeff Franklin<\/strong>\u2019s first choice for the part.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shot an entire pilot, actually, with a different dad \u2026 with John Posey, who was a lovely human being and very sweet and wonderful,\u201d Sweetin, 44, recalled on a recent episode of Black Eyed Peas rapper Taboo<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cComics & Kicks\u201d podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n While Franklin hoped to cast Saget, the late comedian was already committed to a role as an on-air contributor on CBS\u2019 The Morning Program<\/em>. Thankfully, Saget eventually became free and the episode was reshot.<\/p>\n \u201cBob was the first choice for Danny, and so when he was no longer doing the show that was conflicting with Full House<\/em>, we reshot the entire pilot,\u201d Sweetin said. \u201cJeff Franklin had to fight so hard because that\u2019s a lot of money. He was like, \u2018I just know it. I just know this is who we need as the dad.\u2019 And he was right.\u201d<\/p>\n Sweetin played Stephanie Tanner, the middle daughter of Saget\u2019s Danny Tanner, in the hit ABC sitcom from 1987 to 1995. She later reprised the role in Netflix\u2019s Fuller House<\/em>.<\/p>\n Posey, meanwhile, went on to have a successful acting career, even appearing in several episodes of MTV\u2019s Teen Wolf<\/em> with his son, Tyler Posey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Posey recalled the casting process for Danny in a 2014 interview with Yahoo<\/a>, explaining, \u201cFrom what I was told, they were looking all over the country for people and couldn\u2019t find a guy, although I later found out that Bob Saget and Paul Reiser<\/strong> were the two guys they were after first, and they were both unavailable. They were obligated to other shows.
