\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n With Phoebe Bridgers<\/strong><\/a> dropping her first new music in four years, fans will likely be going back through her dating history to try and figure out who the song is about. <\/p>\n The 31-year-old Grammy winner just released her song \u201cLost Boys,\u201d<\/a> in which she sings about a failed romance and Peter Pan syndrome on the new track.<\/p>\n Fans are going to likely be wondering if the song is about Phoebe<\/strong>\u2018s ex-boyfriend Paul Mescal<\/strong><\/a>, so let\u2019s take a look at what happened in their relationship and breakup. <\/p>\n Paul<\/strong> and Phoebe<\/strong> first sparked dating rumors<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n It all started back in May 2020 when Phoebe <\/strong>tweeted, \u201cfinished normal people and now I\u2019m sad and horny oh wait.\u201d Paul <\/strong>then responded, \u201cI\u2019m officially dead.\u201d<\/p>\n In an interview with NME<\/em><\/a>, Phoebe<\/strong> referred to Paul<\/strong> as \u201cthe cute boy\u201d and said that she got a \u201cpitter-patter in my heart\u201d when she saw that he followed her on Instagram. Phoebe<\/strong> then sent Paul<\/strong> her new album Punisher<\/em> before she interviewed him on Instagram Live for his first cover feature with a fashion magazine.<\/p>\n They confirmed their relationship in November 2021 by walking the red carpet together<\/a> at the LACMA Art+Film Gala<\/em> in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n One month later they went Instagram Official with a selfie<\/a> posted to Phoebe<\/strong>\u2018s account with no caption. <\/p>\n The couple later attended the Met Gala together in May 2022. <\/p>\n By December 2022, fans speculated that Phoebe<\/strong> and Paul<\/strong> broke up and she was linked to someone else at that point. <\/p>\n A source told DeuxMoi at the time, \u201cCan confirm the engagement is off between Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers. It\u2019s not an open relationship in the slightest. Paul found out about Phoebe and Bo and called off the engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n At the same time, Phoebe<\/strong> was spotted on a date with comedian Bo Burnham<\/strong><\/a>, attending a play in New York City. The Deux U podcast had also reported that Phoebe<\/strong> and Bo<\/strong> were spotted \u201cmaking out\u201d and \u201ccanoodling\u201d on multiple occasions in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Phoebe<\/strong> was featured on SZA<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s song \u201cGhost in the Machine<\/a>,\u201d which was released in December 2022.<\/p>\n Phoebe <\/strong>sings in her verse, \u201cYou said all of my friends are on my payroll \/ You\u2019re not wrong, you\u2019re an a\u2013hole \/ Screaming at you in the Ludlow \/ I was yours for free.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t get existential \/ I just think about myself and look where that got me \/ Standin\u2019 on my own in an airport bar or hotel lobby \/ Waiting to feel clean \/ That\u2019s so f\u2013king boring,\u201d she continues.<\/p>\n The lyrics seem to be referencing a fight that took place at The Ludlow Hotel in New York City. Perhaps it was between her and Paul<\/strong>?<\/p>\n In an interview released that month, Phoebe<\/strong> revealed that she wrote the lyrics in the last few weeks after SZA<\/strong> hit her up on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cShe just hit me up, she just sent me a DM,\u201d she told NME<\/a>. \u201cIt all happened so fast. I wasn\u2019t really used to that in the pop world, because vinyl isn\u2019t so much of a consideration until way later, it\u2019s just like, \u2018Do you want to be on this record? Okay, it\u2019s out next week\u2019, which I really like. I like that turnaround time.\u201d<\/p>\n In a February 2023 interview with Vanity Fair<\/a><\/em>, the reporter asked Paul<\/strong> about the speculation surrounding the status of his relationship and if he had a desire to chime in.<\/p>\n \u201cI definitely feel the temptation to say the status of my whatever\u2014that will always be there. It\u2019s like a quick boost of serotonin, being like, \u2018I\u2019ve said what I need to say.\u2019 And then it\u2019s just Twitter fodder,\u201d Paul<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n In August 2023, Paul <\/strong>again addressed speculation about his personal life. <\/p>\n \u201cIf I\u2019m going to make TV shows like Normal People<\/em>, there\u2019s going to be an appetite from the world. Eighty percent of that is palatable. And then 20 percent of it is devastating,\u201d he shared with Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe stuff that hurts is the personal stuff.
