Priyanka Chopra<\/a> wants her Hollywood projects to reach the level of her Hindi-language career.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Priyanka Chopra wants to keep pushing on in Hollywood<\/p>\n
The 43-year-old actress, who has worked extensively in both Bollywood and Hollywood, explained that she doesn’t have the same depth of back catalogue in her English-language career.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Cannes Lions conference on Wednesday (24.06.26), she said: \u201cIn my Hindi-language career, I\u2019ve worked with all the best filmmakers and the best actors, I\u2019ve told amazing stories and done a variety of genres.<\/p>\n
“Whereas in America, in Hollywood, in my English-language work, I haven\u2019t really done that as much.\u201d<\/p>\n
For her “next reinvention”, Priyanka is focused on “figuring out how, in (her) English-language work\u201d she can bring the same \u201ckind of variety to my characters that I have been able to do in India”.<\/p>\n
\nThe Heads of State star also pointed out how streaming has made it easier for more non-English projects to find an international audience, while the pandemic also provided a boost.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cMy mom loves Korean dramas. She would never have had access to those if it wasn\u2019t for both of those factors.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOr she\u2019ll watch an Iranian movie. Or look at Squid Game when it became the phenomenon that it did, or Parasite when it won best picture.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Priyanka opened up on how getting married to Nick Jonas and having daughter Malti Marie, four, together means her “life has changed tremendously”.<\/p>\n
\nShe explained: \u201cYour priorities really change. I don\u2019t just pack my bags and go off for a movie anymore.<\/p>\n
\n“I don\u2019t do five films a year. I don\u2019t travel the way I used to. I\u2019m really, really selective about the time I spend and who I spend it with\u2026<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m navigating working-mom life. I have so much more respect for my mother now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nPriyanka recently opened up about her admiration for how her Indian fans have continued to support her after she moved to America.<\/p>\n
\nShe told The Hollywood Reporter: “I have really been blessed with incredible supporters and well-wishers when it comes to audiences who\u2019ve liked my movies over the last 25 years.<\/p>\n
\n“They have also supported me in very dark times, and they will take up fights for me and defend me. That really makes you feel like you\u2019ve moved someone with your work, and that\u2019s a really powerful feeling.<\/p>\n
\n“So I do keep them in my heart. Whenever I\u2019m making tough decisions and trying to figure out what to do next, having that support is very, very helpful.”<\/p>\n
